I've got one of these! It's a beautiful ring, but more prone to damage than a metal ring. After 5 years of daily use, it has some visible scrapes. I use a silicone ring daily now, and just wear this one for weddings and stuff.

Absolutely adore this film, and I'm glad it's still being recognized today. My favorite scene in all of cinema is when the old folks finally figure out how to start the car and speed through the retirement home gates.

Yeah if AI can't pinpoint something when it has ALL OF HUMAN KNOWLEDGE to draw from, it's not the fault of the data set

Glad the country is being proactive, and they're being relocated just a stone's throw away.

Still, this is an ominous story. I hope new place doesn't stay lifeless.

Also kind of sounds like they don't have a lot on the slate and are looking to have something in theaters for an entire season

Furiosa's Box Office Opening Explained: What The Hell Happened With The Mad Max Prequel?! ( screenrant.com )

Furiosa's opening weekend numbers have been a point of discourse for many trades after its release. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Furiosa slumped to a $26 million gross between Friday, May 24, and Sunday, May 26. However, Furiosa was released over the Memorial Day weekend, taking its estimated domestic total to between...

Killer Whales's Hold Breath trait: for some reason only 30 minutes lol

Grant them poisonous fangs (1d10) (don't give them a bite attack)

Flyby trait (no fly speed)

Could definitely spur creative use and a new character goal.

Regardless of post type, there has been a fairly reliable trend of 100 votes per comment. You'd expect that post (3.9k up votes) to have roughly 390 comments. This had been the rule for Reddit site-wide for a decade, and applied to other sites too.

She's a fantastic actress that had horrible writing. Also, she really aped Tennant's Doctor's mannerisms more than making her own, though I'm not sure how much of that was within her control.

Watch Broadchurch if you want to see them in something good~

Tornadoes Are Coming in Bunches. Scientists Are Trying to Figure Out Why. The number of tornadoes so far in the United States this year is just above average. But their distribution is changing. ( www.nytimes.com )

While the timing of this trend lines up with the planet’s rising temperatures, scientists are hesitant to definitively attribute tornadoes’ clustering behavior to human-caused climate change....

Viral marketing for that new movie is wild

Zoomboingding ,
@Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

Wild, I've never even heard of this. So it looks like the comic came after The Watchmen, so maybe Maxx was somewhat inspired by Rorschach, but the movie's character may very well have been inspired by the voiceover of Maxx.

Also, the art in this is really reminding me of the Goblins comic. I bet this was an inspiration!

Doctor Who first look review – Ncuti Gatwa will make this show far more fun than it’s been for years ( www.theguardian.com )

Christmas specials don’t count. Intermediate trilogies where David Tennant is the Fourteenth-and-a-Half Doctor or whatever don’t count. The new era of Doctor Who, with Russell T Davies back as the showrunner and Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, only really begins here, with the new season proper. The first double bill, comprising...

Zoomboingding ,
@Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

Man, I saw a trailer and was disappointed. I love the actor in Sex Ed, and thought he'd be a great fit for The Doctor, but his performance didn't feel like The Doctor. Less 'scatterbrained quippy genius' and more 'snarky Gen Z know-it-all'.

Hopefully the show itself isn't so... quirky?

AFAIK this is an additional $3B. The BIL has already been funding projects for 2 years, and every state is already in the process of identifying all of their lead service lines. Each waterworks is required to at least have an inventory by October.

And that's in addition to multiple other infrastructure projects from this administration, including ARPA.

Zoomboingding ,
@Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

It's basically been in process for decades. Pipes in the ground can last 50 years, so replacement of ones put in the ground in the early 80s are due to be replaced now. Each state has a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program that gets funding from the EPA to replace waterlines. Until recently, the money has been focused on the oldest or most needed projects (some of which are lead), but this recent push has aimed to target specifically all lead lines in the ground.

As a not-so-young-anymore young person, I've always said "no problem" for exactly this reason

Zoomboingding ,
@Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

Never really understood the complaints about this tbh. Any time there's relevant info from another movie or show, they summarize it, or it's not necessary to enjoy the work on its own.

Like, Ms. Marvel has a magic bracelet and Photon is upset that Capt. Marvel disappeared for her whole life. That's enough to go on and just enjoy the movie. If you want more detail, watch a YouTube video later, or just watch the series later 🤷

The comics have been operating this way for 100 years. If you want to start reading Batman, you don't have to start with Detective Comics #1.

Well in this case, POGO is your active app, just get your destination in StreetComplete and switch out until you get there. POGO conveniently helps you navigate there anyway

A human beastmaster whose spellcasting focus was a tiny awakened shrub (which was slightly on fire) and had a flying snake pet.

He was a Pokemon trainer. "Cindertwig, use your Thorn Whip! Now, Create Bonfire!" "Flython, do a Poison Fang attack!"

We only had one very short combat for the 1 shot.

Depends on the context--a short statement can be fully understood on its own if separated by a paragraph (or just the end of the message itself). Lack of punctuation is really only an issue with huge run-on sentences.

But I'm on board with a little message chilling on its own without a period

Did you ever experience TPK?

What is the story behind?
@dnd

Zoomboingding ,
@Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

We almost TPK'd on our very first encounter fighting 3 goblins. A party of 4 level 1 adventurers. We didn't even get ambushed.
As one member lay dead and another dying, (and the other two of us near 0) we ended the session.
The dead cleric saw their diety, who said their work was not yet finished, saved the sorcerer's life, and expected additional converts to the religion.
