Crow is more of a Hitler-admiring kind of guy:

He also likes to show off his other Nazi and Hitler heirlooms, notably Hitler’s teapot (engraved with the Führer’s initials and an eagle with its talons gripping the globe), a signed copy of Hitler’s notorious political manifesto Mein Kampf, and even a set of Nazi table linen.

It's going to take increasing the size of the Supreme Court so that the judges who are bought off don't have the power to block it

El Niño has ended. Here’s what that means for a streak of record heat. The La Niña pattern is expected next, which might slow global heating but supercharge Atlantic hurricane season. ( wapo.st )

The Washington Post recently started asking for an email address in order to access free articles. You can make up any string which starts with a letter, put @gmail.com at the end, and give them that; they don't check that you have access to the email account.

As I said above:

Clearing the air on turbulence and climate change: What you need to know ( wapo.st )

This post uses a gift link, though the Washington Post started requiring registration on Monday. They accept completely made-up email addresses at real domains (eg: make something up ending in @gmail.com and use that)

In 2023, when the data is from, Florida had a ban on abortions past 15 weeks

This meant that people in states with more restrictive rules traveled to Florida, but women with medical problems who needed an abortion later in pregnancy had to leave the state.

The state has since banned abortions later than 6 weeks since the last period (eg: by the time women realize they're pregnant) which means that the picture will look substantially different in 2024.

It's mostly the men voting for this stuff.

It's confabulation, which is what people do when they can't actually say something meaningful but feel an urge to speak. It's really common for people with mild to moderate cognitive impairment.

There are two options: the first is that the people around him act in his name, and the second is that the cabinet declares him disabled under the 25th amendment, and puts the vice president in charge.

A Wild Plan to Avert Catastrophic Sea-Level Rise | The collapse of Antarctica’s ice sheets would be disastrous. A group of scientists has an idea to save them. ( www.theatlantic.com )

I'll note that this falls into the realm of highly-uncertain efforts with a significant chance of failure. It shouldn't be considered as an alternative to ending fossil fuel use, but at most, something to reduce the harm we've already caused.

the Atlantic tends to have good writing. It's important to avoid confusing "good writing" with "full solution" — the two are not in the slightest the same thing.

A few communities have that. Most of the US doesn't. Large parts don't even have metal recycling.

'Financing the Arsonists': Scientists Arrested During Citigroup Climate Protest | "I invite you to join us, at any level of risk tolerance," said one participant in the New York demonstration. ( www.commondreams.org )

Some of those involved have been posting on social media about it

We're talking about professors getting arrested for things like having a beach ball bounce out of the crowd and over to the cops. The consequences are likely to be pretty minor.
