    Good morning/afternoon/evening & Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope the day is kind to you.
    Hugs all round, and extra hugs for anyone who wants/needs them.

    This is getting to be a regular sight in the mornings. This little hedgehog is spending her days in a 'hedgehog box' nearby, hidden under low-hanging shrubs . The food & water are only a few feet away from her front door, so she has all the 'mod cons'. She has been busy decorating her box with leaves all night - it's thirsty work!

    A hedgehog has come out in daylight to take a drink from a terracotta bowl full of water on a paved patio with flowerpots around. In the bowl is a small solar pump which helps to aerate the water for several hours during the day (the solar panel is seen to the right of the image, behind the hedgehog). Behind is a flower border containing lily of the valley, lavender & roses. After drinking, the hedgehog returned through the plants to her bed box.

    A black cat with yellow-amber eyes is lying on a paved patio, among freshly planted flower pots & in front of an old log which is standing vertically & is used as a feeder for birds that prefer to stay low & near to the ground (there are shallow holes in the top which are regularly filled up with seed for the birds to find and peck out). The cat looks alert, as though he has heard something, but he isn't going to get up & investigate.

    A black cat with a tiny 'locket' patch of white hairs is sitting by a dry stone wall. She has caught a 'dangerous' dead leaf, and is looking annoyed that her game has been interrupted to take a photo. She is looking down and to the front right of the image, & from this angle it can be seen that one of her eyes looks yellow-amber, and the other eye appears slightly greenish in the light. Above her head, & to the left of the image, there is a small green plant with sharply lobed leaves growing in the gap between the stones.

    Saturday dawned grey & miserable, like a Squirrel in a washing machine.

    We spoke to the Squirrel Den’s resident meteorologist but they refused to come out of the washing machine on the basis it was, on average, slightly dryer in there!

    At some point in the next few days Laurie willl celebrate his 3rd Purrthday (we don't know the exact date). How he has changed. His 'Gotcha Day' is at the end of July, but we try to mark a Purrthday for him too (based on his probable age when he was found).

    A handsome black cat is sitting in the garden. The little kitten has grown up. He's no longer scared, but he's still hungry!

    I had to take my dogs out when I was selling my house, too.
    The day it sold, my dogs saw the gate into the field & pulled me flat on my face into a HUGE patch of mud.

    It's a day I will never forget - walkiing back down the road to my house with my dogs, absolutely plastered in mud & seeing passing drivers laughing as I went.

    We planted some Japanese maple trees last Fall, and this is the first time I see their Spring growth. The leaves come in like folded paper fans and then they unfold.

    I'm still in shock after finding one of those huge ones on the bedroom wall 2 nights ago! I evicted it with my little box 'contraption', but it's the wrong time of year for them & I wasn't mentally prepared for it.

    In my previous house, if they fell off the ceiling I could hear them hit the (carpeted) floor. A jar with cardboard involved getting too close for comfort (also, the very big ones had to bed their knees to get the jar over them).
    My box contraption keeps them at a bit of distance (not far enough, but it helps) & is big enough to put over them without worrying about hurting them.
    By the time I've put 2-3 out I'm shaking!
    They can live in the shed, or go next door (lots of outbuildings).

    1.When I was very little, my big brothers used to chase me with huge spiders (we had them back then, too) & threaten to put them down the back of my dress. I was terrified. Childhood terrors stay with us.

    1. The 8 legs and 8 eyes thing gets to me. I can't cope with something that has 8 eyes!

    2. I'm squeamish, & a previous cat used to make a point of sitting in front of me & eating them. I could see the legs going up & down as he chomped. (My dog brought them in for him). I invariably threw up. As I would if I saw someone step on one.

    I wouldn't harm them, & I know they have their uses. But I can't knowingly share my house with them.

    Trump is upset he may miss his son's graduation because he's on trial.

    Yeah, we do treat people in the criminal justice system harshly. People you have never thought about, people who have kids, and graduations, and moments missed forever.

    But it's different now. He cries. It's happening to ME. To Me!

    Nothing, no one, exists beyond the tip of some people's noses. They cannot see pain unless they feel it. Cannot recognize suffering unless it's their own.

    What a stunted perspective.

    I would like to propose that this be named Mint Chocolate Lichen

    A lower view of the same splotch of lichen, this time with a view extending further across the rock, and we see that there are several more splotches, generally round in shape, and half on top and half going down the sides of this squarish gray rock.
    A closer view of one of the splotches. The lichen is generally mint green but where it forms cups, the insides are brown, so it looks like an elaborate mint chocolate.
    Another close view of the mint chocolate cup shapes going down the side of the rock. They look like failed pottery attempts that have partially collapsed in on themselves.

    I had a scam phone call. A very polite man (I didn't catch where he said he was from) telling me about something on the Beeb and how I could avoid having to sell my home to pay expensive care-home fees by 'entrusting' the house to a relative. He said he wanted to send me 'free' literature, but I'm not about to give any personal details to a random phone caller.
    Hubby says it's a scam & those schemes don't work! (He was a solicitor before retiring, so he knows more than I do about it).
    After I asked the man 3 times what he was selling, & not getting an answer, I told him to phone back & talk to hubby. He hasn't....
    He could have sounded very convincing if I didn't have such a suspicious nature. Be careful everyone.
