Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites could damage the Earth’s protective ozone layer when they are deorbited, new research suggests.

Mega satellite constellations such as SpaceX’s Starlink spew copious amounts of aluminium oxide gas in the atmosphere.

SpaceX has launched more than 6,000 satellites and counting to beam internet, with each new model getting heavier.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2024/06/14/stanford-internet-observatory-disinformation-research-lawsuits-politics/

The most important part of this debacle is the message it sends:

    mastodonmigration ,

This is absolutely correct. Stanford is not the place for this kind of work because, independent of not having the means to defend itself from right wing harassment, it is so heavily influenced by Silicon Valley tech money.

The place for this work is within government itself. We need a strong victory in November in the House and a commission on disinformation may be possible, but academia does not have the resources to wage this campaign.
