There's no lack of monuments to the Tories' 14 years of utter destruction and callous incompetence, but we should never forget this one.
Seven years today 🕯️ 💚

The UK has seen an “explosion” in insecure, low-paid work in the past 14 years, according to a new report from the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The study found that the number of people in insecure work had reached a record high of 4.1 million, increasing by 1 million between 2011 and 2023.

Tory Britain - keep them insecure and they won't rise up.

Found this interesting given the Conservatives are running a presidential style campaign behind Sunak (from: More In Common polling)

Natasha_Jay , to random
@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt avatar

Pollster Rob Ford, some thoughts:
"Rishi Sunak’s net satisfaction rating of -53 is the worst recorded by MORI one month out from an election in all of the elections they have covered since 1979 - worse than Gordon Brown in 2010 (-36), John Major in 1997 (-46) or James Callaghan in 1979 (-33).

"The net rating of the Sunak government is, at -71, the worst approval of any British government MORI have asked about on the brink of an election...

"More than two thirds of British voters tell MORI the government doesn’t deserve to be re-elected next month, nearly three quarters say it is time for a change, and four fifths say the government has done a bad job. All of these figures are now at the highest level since Sunak took office...

"While a miracle of late persuasion cannot be ruled out, at present the most relevant question for Conservative MPs isn’t “can we win?” but rather “can any of us survive?”"

So based on a quick peruse of the news the Conservative campaign have decided to try and scare people with the threat of...

SOCIALISM

Shapps was probably meant to use the word this morning, but he's so inept he forgot & just went on about a supermajority.

But Jenkins talks of Tories coming together "to prevent a socialist supermajority".

And Cox warns that we're "sleepwalking into a one-party socialist state".

Fat fucking chance.

Tories now electioneering on, checks Grant Shapps notes, 'don't be too mean to us as a large Labour majority means they can't be held accountable'

If only there was an alternative form of voting that could ensure a more, say, proportionate representation in parliament...

Lib Dems movement surely an outlier. Or don't knows deciding to vote tactically (a Tory nightmare in the South)? Or Ed Davy's whacky stunts? 🤔

Sub 100 seats for this lot 😂🤣 (and definitely worth a watch ...)

"The chairman of the Tory Party has abruptly ended an interview with Sky News after he refused to answer questions on his chicken run to a seat in the South.

Richard Holden was asked why he claimed to be "bloody loyal to the North East" before switching to a constituency in Essex. After repeatedly failing to answer the question, a Conservative press officer interrupted to say the interview would be terminated"
