Pronell ,

Yes! Thank you!

Does it hurt that women feel that way? Of course it does, so let's work to be better so that random people can trust each other!

Angrily lashing out at the women who are pondering the benefits of a bear isn't gonna help.

Be someone a woman would feel safe to be around. Call it out when those around you fail that test.

Create that safer environment. It isn't impossible.

Pronell ,

Let them attune to them and then donate the items, and it still works at a distance.

Later, they will lose an ability when it's stolen and attuned to someone else. Side quest!

Hey i just wanna know are raccoons evil in some kind of way ?

A lot of things i thought were cute and nice like dolphines, ducks, cats (i saw one cat eat anothers new born), dogs (multiple cases of eating dead owners due to a variety of reasons starting from trying to wake em up to other malicious reasons), hamsters etc turned out to be wrong . Raccoons are the only thing i believe in...

Pronell ,

Nature gets brutal sometimes. One of my dogs once killed another dog, but she's always been a total sweetheart to me.

Raccoons are cute, curious, critters with thumbs. They like to wash their food. They're adorable!

But they are also wild creatures that will bite when scared and can carry dangerous diseases.

Nature gets brutal.

Pronell ,

Eat their young when they are in a confined space that appears to not support the population.

In a sense, we make them eat their young by putting them in cages and breeding them.

But it is behavior learned in the wild - keep alive only the babies you can actually support, or else everyone dies.

Pronell ,

I think it's better to not look at it as good and evil but as joy and pain.

There will always be both joy and pain in the world. And there isn't even a 'balance' between the two. Some experience more pain than joy. Some, more joy than pain.

Part of the trick is to learn to focus on the joy. The pain will be there and requires acknowledgment, not attention.

Pronell ,

Here's the post with the comment you mean, I believe.

Pronell ,

Might not have been the same one, just another article with a comment that pushes back at the headline.

Pronell ,

Fox News was built to be a propaganda machine, and the current Republican Party is a result of that. (Largely agreed aside from that bit.)

5e has an advantage of not requiring doctorate in quantum physics to run ( ttrpg.network )

I would usually be sad to see another original RPG go 5e compatible but Neuroshima was infamously poorly designed ruleset, possibly worse than Shadowrun. I probably won't be running it, but may steal statblocks for my 5e game if I need weird stuff again.

Pronell ,

Add to that injury rules.

Oh, you've been shot? It's going to be nearly impossible to cast a spell or fight back. Maybe realistic but the number of characters I spent multiple hours making only to be wounded within moments of play was... greater than two.

It has been a few decades.

Pronell ,

My RPG heyday was in and after high school, so 90-94. 1st or 2nd edition.

Pronell ,

I'm not agreeing with him at all but that's a strange jump to take.

I'd say that secondary sexual characteristics in women tend to involve body fat. Being in extremely good shape does affect that a little bit - breasts, hips, face, ass, - and some would see that as looking more masculine where I'd say they're just extremely fit.

Somehow roundness and softness is 'feminine.'

Pronell ,

I think half the reason Black Mirror caught on so well was that coincidence.

We wanted to see the predictions.

Pronell ,

We are not ready for AI shenanigans. This wasn't even that, much easier to throw together for rage points.

Pronell ,

I never hated Skylar, but I get why she's in the meme. Anna Gunn does severe so damn well.

I also don't mind Dolores Umbridge's actress because I hated her in the book far, far more.

Jack Gleeson should come back and give it a shot again. And I can't tell who the other one is.

Pronell ,

A bit stressful but in a good way. Heading out of work early today to pick up someone who needs a place to stay.

I've got a spare bedroom, my wife and I have always talked about letting someone use it if needed... now it's time.

Pronell ,

Anything to not actually report on the news.

Pronell ,

Fuck, is that the problem, really?

I look for sources. If I can't find a good one I look for multiple sources that are reporting the same story.

I'm not even THAT thorough or critical. We're in deep trouble.

Pronell ,

Yeah, I'm old. And I read.

I avoid video sources in general too. Damnit.

Pronell ,

And then the fuckers fill our games with grinding!

Emergency Slide Falls Off Plane, Winds Up At Home Of Lawyer Whose Firm Is Suing Boeing ( www.huffpost.com )

An emergency slide that fell off of a Delta passenger jet shortly after take-off last week reportedly turned up two days later outside the home of a lawyer whose firm is coincidently suing the Boeing plane manufacturer over safety issues....

Pronell ,

They don't like rich lawyers. Few do.

But we do want lawyers skilled enough to be able to hurt major corporations, and then expect them to work cheap.

It's not all that hard to understand when you're downtrodden. But it is a bit counterproductive in my opinion. (That aimed at the original commenter, not at you, though I am sympathetic to both viewpoints.)

Pronell ,

Smaller stakes are better.

They're more personal, interesting, and relatable.

All these movies that are about the ends of worlds or civilizations... it's too much.

The Terminator? Yeah ostensibly it's about the end of the world due to AI run amok but it's really about one woman fleeing from a seemingly unstoppable force.

The last Star Wars movie? Oh no, the planet destroying weapon now kills stars and is smaller. yawn

Pronell ,

As long as it isn't tied to complacency, it's fine.

Pronell ,

It's really insulting being told that my opinion is the result of a smear campaign.

I witnessed the smear campaign. It was unfair. I still didn't like her.

Then I'm repeatedly fucking lectured that an embattled former First Lady, two term Senator, one term Secretary of State was the MOST QUALIFIED EVER candidate. Being embattled and disliked isn't as great an asset as you want to think, especially when you LOSE.

No, she fucking wasn't. And the insistence that she was really hurt her chances because a mythology was being built up around her rather than presenting her as an honest, straightforward candidate.

Medvedev threatens Russia may seize private US assets if Washington seizes frozen Russian reserves ( kyivindependent.com )

Russia could seize assets and property of U.S. individuals held in Russia if Washington confiscates Russian sovereign assets, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, threatened on April 27.

Pronell ,

Fair trade.

We take the estates once owned by Putin and his pet oligarchs, you search through the couches of traitorous ex-pats!

Pronell ,

Which is the whole point of having Bill Maher as a host, similar to Joe Rogan.

He will accept what you say at face value for his audience and be surprised after the fact that he was 'duped'.

Pronell ,

Fair point, I haven't watched it.

But Maher still platformed Kennedy.

Pronell ,

My response was based on, I'd say 30-35 years of watching his career, starting in standup and moving on to commentary and punditry.

I do apologize for not watching this clip before commenting but my sense is that he presents an air of smug, distant dissatisfaction, pretending he knows better and mildly insulting while still allowing his guests to put forth their shitty and damaging views relatively unchallenged.

Hence the comparison to Rogan.

If 30+ years of observations about Maher's career and attitudes - including actually watching his shows for a very long time - comes down to misinformation in your eyes... I dunno what else to say. I guess I didn't spell this all out earlier. I neither read nor follow Salon in general.

It's just my opinion in the end, which can't be fucking disinformation.

Pronell ,

Makes sense. A little more time to tool it up but gotta get it out the door this year or it won't be considered for the Oscars.

Pronell ,

Its unfortunately immediately clear that it's an AI trailer.

It doesn't tell you the whole plot.

Pronell ,

Either you're insane, or I've succeeded in blocking the shitposting communities.

Haven't seen it.

Pronell ,

Good to know. Success!

Pronell ,

Congratulations, you just gave the protesters exactly what they wanted: more attention to their cause and marks of valor for being beaten and arrested.

ACAB.

Pronell ,

Thank you. That site is horrible. Here's another site that discusses the topic in a favorable way. Not taking sides here, was just looking for another source.

Pronell ,

I think of this as a JJ Walker vehicle more than Mark Hamill. Saw it several times on cable back in the day.

It's good schlock, verging on something better.

Pronell ,

I get ya, I hadn't even really noticed since the movie was named in the box below.

But it is frustrating, and I do tend to block communities and posters that seem like advertisements.

Pronell ,

Two reasons, I suspect.

One, he's a little typecast.

Two, he doesn't have that great range as an actor, or hasn't demonstrated it yet in a way that directors have noticed.

Pronell ,

It's a great insult. I gotta remember to incorporate it into my daily lexicon.

Pronell ,

I get your frustration and fear of that outcome but this really is just a shitty headline.

Pronell ,

All our sci-fi series depict bipedal creatures all over the place.

The rest of the universe just isn't represented, man. Make more crab fiction and the aliens will visit!

Pronell ,

A press release is NOT news.

It's something put out by an organization that they would like presented on the news but it is not at all vetted information.

Pronell ,

With a little more ridiculous imagery, that could've been a Shel Silverstein poem.

Well, except he didn't write it...
