I'm excited for a new Alien film but worried that it's hard core horror as I don't like those kinds of films.

Not sure wether to watch in the cinema through the gaps in my fingers or watch it on streaming later on a bright sunny day with curtains open etc. 😆

I love sci-fi and Alien doesn't feel like a gory horror film. There's flashes of gore but it doesn't bother me.

The director's first film was The Evil Dead remake. I love the original three films but I couldn't even make it through the red band trailer of that remake. 🤢

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the sequel. Wasn’t it called Punisher: War Zone or something?

UKFilmNerd OP Mod ,
@UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

Agreed. I saw an interview with him where he explained that he appreciated Dredd Day (many years ago) where fans got the film to the number 1 spot on Amazon's chart in order to promote interest in a sequel.

But as he further explained, all of the investors lost money on the original film, so getting anyone to invest in a sequel was an impossibility.

I misread that at first, as I know there are plenty of films that have been visually created by AI and just look odd, including a full remake of Terminator 2!

UKFilmNerd OP Mod ,
@UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

You joke, but scripts were written for a sequel to E.T. Let's just say they were a very different film to the original.

See X-Men Origins: Wolverine! There's some shoddy CGI blades!

UKFilmNerd Mod ,

Sorry, there's only one Uncharted film, it's only fifteen minutes long and it's a lot better than the Tom Holland version.

That's was a game I loved so much, I played through it twice! Shame it never got any "pro" enhancements as the canyon levels hit the FPS levels causing stutters.

As a child of the late 70s/ early 80s, we never had brick separators. The majority of my bricks had teeth marks! 😁

I had to log in into the default web UI to see what it was on my PC, but it's great. Perfect for the sub. By default, I use phtn.app to browse lemmy on my laptop, and the icons are on the small side.

However, on my phone using Thunder, it looks great too.

Sadly, when I fix apps on my dad's tablet, I notice he has YouTube subscribed to GBNews. I have to avoid any political discussion with him as he has gone down the rabbit hole and repeated many crazy theories which I debunk immediately, but I don't think he believes me.

If you want to know the story of Cannon films, watch a documentary called, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films. It's really interesting stuff.

If I remember it correctly, they would mock up posters of films, go to film festivals and sell the distribution rights to those non existent films.

With the money raised, if there was enough, the film would go into production. Or something to that effect.

I normally listen to heavy metal, rock maybe nerdcore rap. The other night, I was alternating between the albums of Natalie Imbruglia and Melanie Chisholm. There's some good stuff in there.

That's been some really impressive fan films over the years, that's why I thought I would start sharing the ones I remember.

There's also another great Star Trek fan film but really it was very professionally made with some actors that have appeared in Star Trek before. It's called Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar.

They did plan a full 90 minute film but Paramount took them to court to stop the production. Checking on wiki, they're only allowed to make two 15 minute short films.

Trying to remember an old Spider-Man game I played as a child... anyone can recognize it?

Hey folks, I've lurked on this community for a while now but haven't really posted anything until today. Sorry if this isn't really the right place to ask questions like this, but since this is a place for old games, I felt it'd be the most appropriate one......

Took me completely by surprise that Campbell narrated the game and honestly, that kept me going.

I saw such a device on Instagram. I think it was a Bluetooth connection from the computer diagnostic port to the phone.

The app takes this data and makes the right noise based on engine revs. The app was full of different engine sounds both real and fictional along with silly noises such as farting.

The Crow First Reaction Slams the Reimagining as 'Unwatchable' ( movieweb.com )

The first reaction to this year’s reimagining of the Gothic superhero story, The Crow, has emerged...and things are not looking good. The reaction comes from Cliff Dorfman, the writer behind the likes of Warrior who was attached to the project for years before the studio decided to go in a different direction, who took to...

I obviously know the sentiment that everyone has about this reboot, but people are desperate to hate on the film for clicks.

Lego released a minifig version back in 2014, if that's what you mean?

UKFilmNerd OP ,
@UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

A new, updated one wouldn't go amiss. It would certainly be a way for me to throw a little more cash, Lego's way.

I quite enjoyed them, you can read my thoughts about Part One and Part Two. I loved the universe Snyder has created, but the story was quite lacking. It was also clear that the violence had been pretty much censored from the original versions. I must be one of the very few people looking forward to these extended versions. 😁

Yeah, I have a habit of sharing news that only really interests me. That's why I don't share everything I come across. A friend and I used to run a website together, and I got quite used to posting the latest film trailers and interesting news that I came across. Although sometimes I found it really hard to post news about films I didn't really care about. I had to write something to accompany the video.

If you want an in depth oral history about this film, I highly recommend the 50mph podcast. It just finished this week after fifty episodes. The host Kris has interviewed almost everyone who worked on this film and I found it fascinating, it's right up my street.

For example, it was once pitched as a Beverly Hills Cop sequel. Also, director Jan de Bont is adamant that they filmed the infamous bus jump stunt twice. Problem is, he's the only one who thinks this, everyone else disagrees.

Brave words, my friend. You wanna talk about True Lies too? 😆

I watched Soylent Green for the first time about seven years ago and was surprised a film from the 70s was tackling the issue of climate change back then. It's a pretty good film, but I thought it ended a bit too prematurely. I wanted to see what happened after the lead character makes his chilling discovery.

I remember games being really hard (or I'm just crap) back in the home micro 8bit days. Then I watch play throughs on YouTube and discover if you figured out what to do, the game could be completed in under an hour!

That's lovely. You've reminded me, I live near Tilbury Docks which they passed off as Venice for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Just along the road from there is the Tilbury Fort which was turned into the Tibetan prison for Batman Begins.

Stuffs everywhere!

Not a lot so far.

Terminator: Genisys (Only seen once on release, gave it a second chance.) Letterboxd review.

Red Tails. Took a chance on this Blu-ray from a charity shop. I'm glad the charity got 50p. Not happy about the film. Letterboxd review.

Finally, rewatched Sky High, a Disney superhero film from 2005. Well worth your time. Full review on my blog.

Despite having no knowledge of the source material, I loved Arcane season 1, so really looking forward to Season 2.
I think I read there's another Batman Ninja coming. The first one is beautiful and, excuse the pun, bat shit crazy!
As a Terminator fan, really interested in the upcoming Netflix animated show.
What else??
Sony and Netflix have a new Ghostbusters animated show in development, but I think that's quite a way off yet.
I see posts below of the animated Watchmen adaptation. I'm interested to see this, although I find DC usual straight to DVD content quite cheap looking. I love the live action Watchmen director's cut (the one without the animated Black Sails segments) and I wonder if they're sticking to the original squid ending?
