Hey Mastodon, what are your favourite Europe-related accounts to follow? National/European politics, culture, tech, sport, science, etc.

After initially feeling very hopeful that this site could be a great home for us post-Twitter, the conversation has rather dried up over here (for us, at least!) so we’d love to find some new people to follow!

Link at end, There are some fantastic podcast audiobooks out there. Better still, these are free, and you don't need a subscription! Just put the RSS feed into your favorite podcast app. I listen to more audio fiction than watch shows on streaming because a lot of these indie creators are trying new things and I love exploring! To get you started, here's a few collections https://www.theend.fyi/collections @bookstodon @audiobooks

weirdwriter OP ,

3 more links are below! Anytime! If you wanna check out some featured stuff by the End creator, here is the featured page, but this website tracks fiction podcasts that either start new seasons or ended seasons or ended shows, like, completed shows. https://www.theend.fyi/recommended-audio-fiction

And if you are looking for more podcast audiobook type stuff, not audio dramas, but narrations of work, also check out the below category on the audio dramas directory. Trust me, this has saved me some credits on Audible!

https://audiodrama.directory/tag/narrated/

And lastly, this is the only nonfiction podcast audiobook directory I know of, as of right now.

Hi ! What do you find the best service to be for podcast episode distribution, transcription, and hosting more than one podcast? Spreaker got rid of their lower tier and my budget can't stretch to much more than $10 a month. And Buzzsprout block my VPN so they're now out haha. If you're a I'd love to know what you use (sorry, Castopod wasn't for me).

I have a confession to make. In the Apple Podcasts search field, I type book titles, or audiobook narrator names, or author names into the search box and listen to the results and then determine if I like the podcast enough to see what they have to say about other things. @bookstodon

I'd love to have something like Google News for podcast news.
To pick out a series of topics to listen to and others to avoid.

    Is there anything like this?

@bryanalexandee There used to be far more of a Web ecosystem surrounding podcasts when they were first popular and my journal article in 2005 was one of the first academic and technical analyses of educational podcasting: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/237544289_Spoken_Internet_to_Go_Popularization_through_Podcasting
The faddish ephemerality is exasperating when there will always be a market for listening, even if limited to drivers, joggers, strap-hanging students and commuters like us in Japan, and so forth. In 2022 I covered some of the changed terrain in https://www.researchgate.net/publication/366399918_Podcasting_Reconsidered
