I know that the Biden campaign is loving this because it mobilizes voters but I really wonder how many normal GOP people are fully invested in a payback agenda. I do think there is a huge difference. In the UK situation I also think there is a huge difference. People in UK that think there isn't are people who most likely support Corbyn or the likes of him. Those are people who are old hippies that doing want NATO, want to make disappear Israel to put it mildly.
The huge difference is that Conservatives, and Tories worldwide dont want to solve any problem and lower taxes and cut goverment spending.

The verdict may not matter to Trump's base, but I do think there is a group of people it matters to who are being overlooked: the people who were already likely to vote for Biden.

A Trump acquittal would have sapped trust in legal systems and government further. It would fueled apathy. Hopelessness and apathy can reelect Trump.

The fase perception that the Supreme Court = Justice is GONE and it dosen't matter if by some miracle Alito, Thomas, Brett and the religious freak woman are gone. The fact that this "court" is NOT elected, has NO ETHICAL RULES, and it's for life makes it an insidious breeding ground for corruption. The Supreme Court is where the politician put their enforcers to beat anyone to submission, that is how American Democracy conceived it.

It’s telling everyone that the structures of the state are infiltrated by people who don’t believe in the state, don’t want the state, don’t want democracy and do t believe in democracy. In 2024, for the first time, it finally feels like we have a critical mass of people and platforms who are interested in rewilding the internet to bring back what we lost, and create something new. In the past week alone, we've had conversations with Mastodon, Flipboard, The Verge, Buttondown, WriteFreely, and several co-authors of the ActivityPub spec.
