I remember when Obama suggested mandatory civil service. Not necessarily military but local government or parks. Doing some local community work. I thought that was a great idea.

Having mandatory military is dumb. I was in for a few enlistments and you don't want someone forced to be there when people's lives are on the line. Vietnam ended up with a bunch of officers getting fragged by disgruntled draftees.

I noticed something similar with my in-laws, as far as ruining your family relationship by not accepting people. The grandma goes on rants to her daughter about anti-trans and the pronoun (they/them). She has so much energy for this hate she preaches to her daughters (she has 2) all the time they talk. Always grabbing those talking points.

One daughter has 4 kids and they are all under 18. Some of them experimented with gender fluid stuff. I'm not well versed enough to explain. I know one goes by they/them and the grandmother won't make an effort, or when she messes up the gender she makes a big scene of "I'm old, it wasn't like this. Blah blah."

The really weird thing is after all this hate and after the grandma started putting up walls to her grandchildren (because of the hate she preaches about their siblings). Now she complains that no one wants to talk to her or hang out with her when she visits. Does she not know she was talking about her family during those rants?

She got hooked on some alt right news bs. Started saying she was a tradwife, making butter, and looking for raw milk. Idk what happened, especially since I saw her when she was "strong woman" and gay friendly when she was raising her kids.

The only good deal for Taco Bell is taco Tuesday deal. 5 dollars for 3 tacos and a drink. They got a build your own box that's a good deal too, but everything else is so expensive.

Shit Wendy's used to have good mobile deals and now they are mostly trash. That new CEO that wanted surge pricing on burgers is fucking up everything with Wendy's for me.

I'm at a place where the local Mexican restaurant has better dinner deals Mon-Thurs than any fast food around me. Depending on the day it's like $7-$10. I just gotta watch my drinking there.

The first type of this post I saw was Garfield minus Garfield. That one was more enjoyable because most of the comics just looked like Jon was very depressed and talked to himself.

I'm not sure when Heathcliff got a minus cat version, or if there are other versions. I think it's just a exercise in creativity to see if the comic still is funny/makes sense even if the OG comic joke is different.

If you happen to be in a situation with basic crumbs of a plain salted chip (like utz or something) and hard boiled eggs, then you should combine them.

Our DI made us mix food to save time eating in boot camp, and ngl salted chips and eggs in a bag were dope. They made us crush the chips and eggs, but you can make a coating of chips on the eggs. I actually made it with the last of my chips a couple weeks ago.

Oh shit. You just gave me a memo of middle/high school. I use to be able to do that. I just checked and maybe if I keep practicing, but it's not there anymore.

Someone I knew did it to me in school. Like just vibrated their eyes while looking at me. Then asked if I could do that. Well no, but it intrigued my young ass enough to figure out how he did it. He told me and after a few days I was able to do it pretty easy.

I can bend the last joint of my right hand middle finger independently. Not any of the other ones though. I found out when I was playing Double Dragon in the arcade and smashing the attack button. My finger when stuff with the first joint bent and still smashing the kick button. I didn't know what it was.

1944 Democratic National Convention

It was during WW2 and Henry Wallace should have been VP again as this was a reelection for FDRs 4th term. Too many people saw Wallace as too progressive and too much for the working class. The powers that be replaced Wallace with Truman. He did his thing with dropping the bomb and trying to rebuild the world with his very pro business world view.

We could have had a different growth after WW2, but Wallace got replaced when FDR got to the end of his life.

The Bull Moose party was closest we've had to an actual 3rd party. That was only because Teddy Roosevelt was running it and he was a previous president.

I assume it is possible with the modern day ability to communicate and organize. Getting a 3rd name on every state ballot will take some ground work. It might be easier, but we would need someone to get behind. Like a REAL leader and not a "pop culture icon." I vote to get that Shawn Fain guy. He is kicking ass in the auto union, so I think he would fight for the working class all around.

Oh I 100% agree about the man. Teddy was a big push of progressive policies and he was a great president. We almost never had him as president because the robber barons (JP Morgan, Carnegie, and Rockafeller) used their money to put him as a VP to McKinley. McKinely was bought and paid for by them and the VP position was a place to put people to end their political career. Then the assassination happened and Teddy came in with all these trust busting ideas.

Also, Teddy first came into the political stage as a rich, fancy dressed guy. He did a PR campaign to change his image to this man's man. Then after those photos of him in furs and an expensive hunting knife, he joined the military and did the whole rough riders thing. He became the image he portrayed and came back to NY better from it. He became a popular Governor and that's when the robber barons got worried and wanted to stop his momentum.

I won't say that won't happen, but they will call back all the inactive reserves first. The 1st time you sign an active duty contract, you sign up for 8 years total. Everyone does. It normally is 4 years active and 4 years inactive, but sometimes it's 5 and 3 or 6 and 2.

They called people back in '02, '03 during OEF/OIF. It's easier to call people with prior training back then train 100% new one.

I think you might be right in that idea. One time I was out with my wife at a club show. She got a little too drunk and stumbling. I was walking her out of the club to pick up the metro and go home, when some chick stopped us (her) and whispered something in my wife's ear.

My wife responded "No, it's good. He's my husband."
When I asked my wife what was that about and she told me that she was "checking to make sure I knew you." My first response was "oh yeah that makes sense. Men suck." I was low-key glad they checked on my wife though. They had no way of knowing if "I'm one of the good ones."

The man is usually scared of being laughed at or rejected. The woman is usually scared of being killed.

I've been into gut health lately and I was thinking what if we are the microorganisms inside a bigger beings gut? This planet is just one part of it and in order for the universe to have a healthy gut we would have to terra form the planets and make healthy worlds. (I don't think we will actually do that. We are more likely to mine every other planet)

The universe's gut now looks like the typical American diet gut with ultra processed foods and not enough fiber/fermented foods.

I feel you might be missing the point of the protest. They want to get the message out and they did on a global level. There are stories reporting this. Hell I don't know if you knew it, but we are talking about it right now.

People are forgetful and you have to keep bugging them for change to happen. You need to make it difficult to ignore, or else you will be ignored.
