Did anyone with #Covid get a ton of rashes you can’t explain?
Nothing gets rid of them.
Plenty of other symptoms but this is one that doctors always blame on allergies.
My hair also got intensely dry to the point where it didn’t need washing for 3 weeks. There was no sebum! I had to oil it & leave it in for a week even after using a very rich conditioning treatment.
My nose would also not stop bleeding.
I’m about 2 months into my second infection. Already have #LongCovid.
A coworker is out with Covid. I worked with her last week while she was sneezing & had a runny nose. But I had my N95 on, & was also airing the house out so I did not get sick.
(Always air out your vacation rental for at least an hour, folks)
At the Chess tournament to be held on 26 May with about 120 attending, there is about a 89.99% chance someone there will have an active covid infection. Most likely 2 people.
I've said it before but I'll say it again.
It's not that everyone I know who had #Covid has developed terrible new medical issues.
It's that everyone I know who has developed terrible new medical issues recently had Covid.
And in every case I'm thinking of, it's become a health crisis within about three months of their most recent Covid bout. (Usually not a bad bout, either.)
Top story: Banning masks because they supposedly hide a person's identity is just another excuse.
"[T]here's little evidence that any kind of medical mask does anything to conceal your identity. A report in Nature found that even sunglasses do a better job than a surgical mask or an N95 respirator...The Department of Homeland Security even tested their tools and found they still work 96 percent of the time when the public masks."
To those who follow this account for #Covid rants and politely tolerate my posts about the wonderful and elegant #Python programming language I’ve used almost daily for over a decade: The #pycon2024 conference required masks because they apparently haven’t stopped caring about the people behind the keyboards.
Yes, masks. In 2024. At a tech conference. It’s a beautiful thing.
I follow COVID scientists here on Mastodon. I've seen them post links to studies showing waning effectiveness of COVID vaccines after 6 months.
I received the updated booster last October and want to get boosted again prior to some planned travel in July. (Air travel to the MAGA anti-vax cesspool known as Florida)
I have contacted three pharmacies in my area.
One has no COVID vaccines at all and said they won't receive any until fall.
The other two say they will not vaccinate me because they must follow US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines stating that only people 65 years and older should receive boosters at this time.
They won't vaccinate me even if I am willing to pay out of pocket.
Both say I must get a recommendation from my health care provider before they will even consider it.
Less than 20% of people in my state are up to date on their COVID vaccines. For those of us who want to follow the science and not some arbitrary age limitation, why not let us get vaccinated?
The West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant Sars-CoV-2 7-day rolling average continues to bounce around the levels its been at for weeks, with maybe a very slight uptick that’s hard to see on this graph. The last 7DRA number was calculated on 5/14.
WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at https://doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistical-reports/diseases-and-chronic-conditions/communicable-disease-surveillance-data/respiratory-illness-data-dashboard#WasteWater. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally).
Note: when the state switched over to new data providers in September, they also removed the previous historical data from the graphical interface. That's because the two providers used different methodologies that made direct comparisons difficult. Unfortunately, it also removed valuable context for interpreting the results. So, keep in mind we're just seeing what happened in September 2023 until now.
Another study shows that vaccination can reduce but not eliminate risk of Long Covid. A comprehensive set of precautions, including but not limited to vaccines, is needed to protect against Long Covid. #COVID#vaccines#LongCovid
“As a physician I am deeply concerned about North Carolina’s potential total ban on mask-wearing. It’s disturbing to think immunocompromised and cancer patients could be deemed criminals for following medical advice aimed at safeguarding their health,” [Jerome] Adams said in one post.
hey! johns hopkins is doing a survey about long covid! but they're having trouble finding CONTROLS, so if you've managed to avoid covid (#novid ) they wanna hear from you!
i took it! took about 30mins, and they ask about your vaccinations, so you might wanna have your card handy because they wanna know how many, what brand, and when. go help them out! #covid#LongCovid#COVID19
Mastodon needs to see Violet Affleck. Not only does she wear 3M Auras and FloMasks consistently, she's also trying to show her mindset with the book she's carrying. #Covid
May 19, 2017 – Four months after his inauguration, almost 700 positions still remained empty at the Center for Disease Control. The vacancies appeared at every level—from administrative roles to scientific advisers to director-level positions.
I hear that 2020 was difficult and traumatic for a lot of people. But for me, and I suspect for many of us who are still Covid-cautious, this year has been the most difficult year yet.
Not only are few people still wearing masks, but mask bans are now happening. Public areas are more and more dangerous, and mask-wearers are now being viewed as criminals.
Family are less and less tolerant of what they now view as subversive behavior from those of us who don’t want to gather together without mitigations.
As more years pass, waiting on medical care becomes impossible, and the likelihood of needing to take the major risk of visiting medical, dental, eye care and other facilities becomes greater. And now with the added risk of even healthcare providers not masking.
This is the hardest year by far. My patience for those talking about the trauma of 2020 has waned.
@luckytran This is what a Republican congress does. ⬆️ Every #COVID post from now on should also be tagged #VoteBlue#Vote#Biden The cat is to remind you of how the MAGA views vaccines and the Rs in congress that are happy to let them. Rs want to fund billionaire tax cuts, Dems want to fund #healthcare. #CovidIsNotOver#CatsOfMastodon#GOP
It's ridiculous that most Democrats are just watching passively as Republicans are passing mask bans. In states where Democrats hold power, they should absolutely be passing laws that codify and protect people's rights to wear a mask.
Some good health news: an effective, universal vaccine will likely be developed for #Covid:
"The first pan-coronavirus ("universal") vaccine Phase 1 clinical trial results are encouraging for eliciting broad sarbecovirus, #SARSCoV2 variant immune response.
We haven't seen this in people before:
Individuals vaccinated with SpFN/ALFQ had robust
cell-mediated and antibody responses against multiple clade 1 sarbecoviruses."

what the fuck do we do. theyve destroyed communication in gaza. they keep bombing. we don't even know how bad it is. if it was that bad when the world was watching. Jesus.
In Jan 2022, C19LAP data highlighted 44% of our respondents in a survey of over 400 people, said they had applied for SS disability.
We are interested in seeing how many people, as of mid 2024, with Long COVID have been applying for Social Security Disability, and what that process has been like for them.
We are asking the Long COVID community whether they have applied or not, to take this survey, as we would like to utilize the data in our advocacy efforts. This form is anonymous.
