If it's one to one how we get erect normally, and as the human body essentially inflates using blood, your teeth would ultimately be blood sponges. Seems impractical.

Of course, take it a step farther and maybe physiologically the blood hardens to a sharp point. I know some fantasy settings where bloodstone is a thing, so I guess that. If it was possible, it'd look sick as fuck.

I have a friend I help with her start up and occasionally she starts that shit with me. I have zero patience for boss speak and my labor is free so I just tell her off.

Just because in your head you RP as a boss doesn't mean I'm going to do a meeting instead of an email, and a little friendly, humble speech goes a long way vs. whatever the fuck these rude ass emails are.

taiyang ,

Either or, I don't think most people care.

Now, you wanna make a splash...
"Yo dawg,
So I heard you're hiring.
Hit me up.

  • Employable Guy"

Goes over super well with HR. (But seriously you probably can get away with this with so many unimportant emails lol)

taiyang ,

Keep those eyes out for working CRTs in thrift stores and garage sales. Or, I guess, estate sales? Or idk, whatever it's called when they give dead old people stuff away. It's a dying breed.

Point is, you need a curved screen and crazy strong scan lines. 4:3 ratio or bust.

taiyang ,

Oh my, a real who's who, I recognize most of the names mentioned too. But let's be fair, they post stuff while many, myself included, just comment.

Too bad I just use my game name for this, haha

taiyang ,

There are such things as brick separators?! Why hasn't anyone told me, my fingernails could have been spared such anguish.

taiyang ,

Basically my childhood, yup. But then again, the type of kits they let us use as kids seem to be more quantity than quality. Or maybe I was just poor, haha.

taiyang ,

My phone is at 5%. Fuck yes I have a wallet, I'm not buying a new phone every year. I'm a millennial, by definition I have no money.

taiyang ,

Sounds like something you ride or a place that makes so so sandwiches.

taiyang ,

I'm sure the contingency is eating the inheritors until no one is left. It's billionaires all the way down!

taiyang ,

Funny how those dates timed out, almost like they wanted taxes in the working class to go up during a potential democrat presidency. Hmm.

taiyang ,

You know they already knew that he'd do that, why even tell them and make it obvious? It's been GOPs MO since long before I was born.

taiyang ,

Hey that's the same as my place; let me join you in saying fuck landlords!

taiyang ,

Reading the comments, this is more an uncool guide.

taiyang ,

Oh yeah, will my sea salt says it's GMO free.

No really, I have sea salt that said no GMOs.

taiyang ,

After the whole graffiti towers thing, the city is also a bit annoyed by them, too.

taiyang ,

Ok, I also don't like glamorizing a cooperation but I'll let folks in on something as a parent; kids genuinely are interested in occupational stuff, especially if they see it regularly. Just at Target, for instance, they sell kid sized target branded cashier make believe stuff. And I do mean branded, with all the store brand names and everything.

I'm not getting my kid this mostly cause I'd rather not support the brands, but I do think it's important to let kids know that it's ok to work these jobs if that's your deal. If anything, we as adults need to make the jobs give a living wage and not be expoitive, and to do that, you also have to teach the next generation that these jobs have value.

(And honestly, I prefer it over glamorizing police or military, which we've done with toys and events since forever!)

taiyang ,

Ah, I had to live there for a bit before moving back to LA. I once got stopped by police for simply existing, ask where I was going and where I was coming from, just cause I looked a bit different.

Btw, they also like to pick up homeless and drop them off in Santa Ana. I saw them harassing a dude once and just take him away, again for existing whist homeless. Left all his belongings behind too, was complete BS. I fucking hate Irvine.

Before everyone was on the Internet; before everyone recorded everything; and before she would get absolutely in trouble, I had a 7th grade math teacher with a shirt that had the quadratic formula across the chest area.

One day when teaching this topic, she wore a jacket over it and when introducing the formula, she unzips the jacket and with great enthusiasm, reveals her formula to the whole class. To this day I have that formula hardcoded into my brain and, on occasion, use it (mostly on bullshit employment tests but still.)

taiyang ,

Isn't that wild? My favorite mom and pop shops are at least 33% less expensive and made with solid ingredients (especially real ice cream milk shakes lol)

taiyang ,

Insurance companies are benevolent enough to cover that, right? Right?

taiyang ,

Insurance must be through the roof the same way it's gone up the last few years because of higher accident rates globally.

taiyang ,

Yeah they just stop insuring folks, a real problem lately with Florida and California.

taiyang ,

Attack of the Zombie Moose, truly a Canadian horror story.

taiyang ,

Oh no, I ordered something and they're shipping FedEx. This meme is my future.

taiyang ,

Ugh that's such a tech bro company name too.

taiyang ,

Thank goodness. It was almost too parody, but the problem is the real world is a parody of itself at this point, lol

taiyang ,

I visit reddit occasionally and honestly, Reddit is also just reddit recycled content. I'm not on there nearly as much as I used to be and I still see the same fucking posts and videos on popular, many of which are just karma bots.

I think I see more new stuff on Lemmy. Not usually good stuff, but at least it's novel. Or very very old memes, but that's not recycled reddit, that's more recycling icanhascheeseburger or some shit, and I'm down for that.

taiyang ,

Ok, not necessarily my favorite but I want to shout out a Tandoori BBQ Chicken pizza I had the other day. It was like a standard BBQ chicken pizza (which, admittedly stretches the definition of pizza) and throws Indian food on it.

My favorite right now is also somewhat blasphemous; I fancy a good spicy pepperoni square pizza, done up Detroit style (but marketed Sicilian). Buttery, crispy crust, truly splendid.

Quick edit: y'all are also splendid. Great tastes all around!

taiyang ,

Ah man I miss Giordano's. A good reason to go back to Chicago again... Aside from all the other good reasons, anyway.

taiyang ,

Whoa, I should not have hit that link.

Those guys are loons, and now I feel like I'm on a list for seeing that conversation, haha.

taiyang ,

Good for you guys, hopefully they do something about it because it really is problematic (alcohol certainly ruined my childhood!).

They did try to outlaw it in the US over 100 years ago, right after women got the right to vote. Among other things, part of the rational was women getting beaten by alcohol abusing husbands. Unfortunately it takes a lot more than an amendment to stop something so pervasive though.

taiyang ,

I wonder if it'll get packed with the VR friendly Myst. I have ached to try it, although I remember all the puzzle solutions so that's toothpaste you can't put back in the tube. Riven is new to me though!

taiyang ,

Ok, you can put the toothpaste a little back in. Still lacks some of the novelty but I'll give it a shot when it's on sale. Thanks!

taiyang ,

Peak SC.

That said, I wait for retroachevements before I dive back into my gcn collection.

taiyang ,

Teaching young people (18-23ish), I regret to say that many people prefer the video. I don't get it, especially since it's not like they're not strong readers- they text as much as anyone else.

Social norms? Attention span? Actual reading comprehension? It makes no sense, they prefer a 90 minute recording of the course over a study guide I give out with the same stuff, and wonder why they have no free time...

taiyang ,

It does depend on the person, and the text readers do rather well in my courses. Visual aids help, although I teach stats and social psych, so the most visuals that help are diagrams at best.

Games though, sure, sometimes. Snapshots usually suffice for me, though I haven't needed a guide for a puzzle in a long long time. (Older games are a lot more "guide damn it" than newer ones without missables).

taiyang ,

I've had someone offer more for worse, so at the end of the day you mostly just have to find a buyer it speaks to. A bit of an odd medium though, I'm not sure how well it'll age (my sale was on bristol paper which holds up well, the rest of the set I kept and there still hanging strong 20 years later).

taiyang ,

All, 6 hours (or 12 hours if I sleep).

I like being forced into All by the smallness. I didn't realize I like Star Trek and D&D memes as much as I do. And if you go far enough, there's porn there, too!

taiyang ,

"My love, as I gaze into your gay pupils..."

taiyang ,

I love how it's a little golden book, and some of those are straight up banned. We found a rather racist one of those in a neighborhood mini library thing, "Little Black Sambo"--- (the OG story is a real folk tale but the images they used were not great)

taiyang ,

I got the sense it wasn't meant with malice, just people of the 1960s attempting to tell a story from another culture and uhh... flavoring it. The story actually got retold with a bit more cultural sensitivity in the 90s, since the base story is actually ok (apart from, you know, eating tigers).

taiyang ,

I also looked for it but no luck. There is an interesting list on Wikipedia of unusual articles though, which is a fun rabbit hole if you want to waste the rest of your day.

taiyang ,

I think I want that sign irl. Like the ones you see for dogs, but for mimics. Will it work? Of course not. If anything it might even attract D&D groups to play in my basement.
