Oh wow, that needs to be off by default like yesterday. 💀

Let's pretend it's one year.

Depends strongly on if I have the funds to afford anything.

Unlimited money? Throw my own week-long EDM festival with free entry. Maybe sponsor my own anime. (And do everything else on this list)

Lots O' money? Go to as many events as possible with a group of friends. Tomorrowland, EDC, Defqon, ComicCon, AI-KON, etc. (I'd also be a tourist at all these different places try to experience the most I can.)

Sensible money? A trip to Japan and whatever music festivals I can afford.

Typical Friday money? Go to some house parties, clear some video games I've been working on, spend more time at a beach.

And above all else on this list, find someone to love my dog.

For the last few hours I've been driving around looking at garage sales. Nothing much so far

Controversial opinion, as someone who had these as a kid. They should go a step further and slap an OLED panel on it.

Great game, I've been wanting to play the new one with the new route.

My first time playing I got hit by a car.

DVDs are dying right as streaming has made them appealing again ( arstechnica.com )

It's sensible for businesses to shift from physical media sales. Per CNBC's calculations, DVD sales fell over 86 percent between 2008 and 2019. Research from the Motion Picture Association in 2021 found that physical media represented 8 percent of the home/mobile entertainment market in the US, falling behind digital (80...

I have a 4k BluRay player I picked up for cheap. But I only have like 2 movies for it.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

You know what it might. But I need the glasses for my TV.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Yeah it does require a tv with that feature. Mine supports it but I've never thought to try it because it needs glasses. (and probably won't because they are expensive last I checked)

I thought that was a Canadian 2$ coin from the thumbnail but it's even cooler.

Oh I want to know the answer to this as well. Sometimes my toilet will flush itself while I'm having a shower, and if I'm not paying attention I get cooked.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Oh darn, but the slow leak kinda makes sense? What do you think is the cause?

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

My roommate has a cat yeah.

Oh this is hard to think for. Because if the game was particularly bad I probably only played it a couple times and forgot about it.

Pretty much any sports or racing games without items (and fun haha).

Ah yes I remember one now. The Typing of the Dead

What you’ve got for a screenshot there is the revised, newer version from the 2010s. I’ve never played that one.

Ah I was wondering why it didn't exactly match what I was remembering cool. Yeah when I was a kid typing games felt like such a scam.

What would you do if you won 5 Billion GBP? (6.415450 billion USD)

Just a wonder on how you'd spend it. I'd probably buy up some land and build a nice village or town kind of similar to Poundbury. I'd probably sell houses at a fair price but only to people who send in a CV and seem to be upstanding people who actually want to work and be a part of a community, as well as giving them a mortgage...

There's an anime based on this idea. Higashi no Eden

But I would try to raise the quality of life of those in my circle and hopefully others. I like to think ~6 billion is a lot of cash but it won't be enough to help everyone directly. So I would probably need to pick a few issues and start up an charity focused around the ideas of solving issues with censorship, access to the internet and providing a safe haven to oppressed lgbt individuals.

I have a BluRay drive capable of burning but I've never needed it for that. I've been mostly using it for my ancient cd collection.

Let's be honest, after Microsoft fired everyone that knew how to maintain Windows they only have interns and the windows phone team left to maintain it...

Microsoft bans China-based employees from using Android devices for work, mandates switch to iPhones ( www.techspot.com )

Microsoft has told all its employees in China that they will soon only be allowed to use iPhones for work purposes. The ban on Android devices is part of a security-related Microsoft initiative for providing a unified way of managing and verifying employee identities....

The enterprise features are nicer on iOS and less confusing for clients and administrators. So I can understand the appeal of eliminating android.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Oh sure, its not bad. It's just that's exactly the issue. The hybrid configuration of work apps and personal apps in my experience was mentally draining to explain time after time to people and configure in intune and knox. People frequently used it incorrectly. With iOS it was much more subtle and friendly experience I rarely had any issues with the apple users. Perhaps we were using it wrong, but it was a miserable experience for everyone involved.

We tried the work only configuration that was much more pleasant to maintain but we were threatened with a strike if we didn't let people install their own apps.

Edit: This was back in the galaxy s7 days so maybe it's better now.

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Yeah, I'm not a apple fan. I'm just trying to find the silver lining in a crappy situation. "It's less work managing one environment at least" was the thought.

Personally I strongly prefer Android and I'm happy to see the EU cracking down on Apple.

I'm on the final dungeon of Twilight princess. It's been a journey getting here. I was a bit disappointed with the previous zone, but I'm hoping this last part will be a banger.

I need help with streaming music services..

I am starting to dislike YouTube Music for cramming in music I don't like no matter how many times I use the thumbs down. I have already tried Spotify and Apple Music and didn't like either. I do buy records from Bandcamp but a streaming service is necessary as well. Should I try Deezer? Pandora not available here. Or even...

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Could you expand on why you didn't like Spotify?

It's really popular with my friends and family. So I'm curious what's missing to make it a winner for you?

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

Great thanks for that.

I can't think of an exact solution but are you open to creating your own playlists and using your phone like a mp3 player?

Newgrounds has a lot of indie music to explore and freely download.

Soundcloud might also be suitable?

Banned from a sinking ship.

Glad to have you.

Why do many search engines seem to ignore operators (e.g. exact phrases, term exclusions, OR, etc.)? Is there a good reason for having a dumb 1997-level search logic that I'm not seeing?

Wouldn't it cut down on search queries (and thus save resources) if I could search for "this is my phrase" rather than rawdogging it as an unbound series of words, each of which seems to be pulling up results unconnected to the other words in the phrase?...

Toes ,
@Toes@ani.social avatar

The tragedy of the commons.

Enough people don't understand or care to understand, so it gets cut out for the sake of improving the users experience.

Toes ,

Kudos to them. Opera gave up on this dream being unable to accommodate all the nuances of web standards and accounting for out of conformance behaviours that many websites rely on the daily.

I reckon this browser will need to be at least on par with reasonably recent version of Firefox to see significant adoption.

The article explicitly says it supports x86. So I'm trying to understand to what extent?
