Gun Control has always been a Republican policy founded in racism.

Regan's California policies were in response to the Black Panthers.

pyrflie , (edited )

Republican hospitals are officially data leaks. If you get healthcare in an R state the data is up for public bid.

I wonder how many politicians stuffed shit up their assess, and what the cost of their records are.

Pathfinder_Kingmaker. I spent ages talking about builds and strategies on that reddit sub. I still miss guiding new players into the games. The BG3 community is the closest I've found but it doesn't scratch quite the same itch due to 5e's simplicity.

Pathfinder does have a few active communities but they are all for the tabletop. The one for the game on Lemmy.world is dead as a doornail.

pyrflie , (edited )

Hot and Scaled are my main sorts. I alternate a couple of times a day. They get me the most interesting content.

I only check the first 3 pages of Active twice per day.

Edit: New is once per week and I generally regret it.

pyrflie ,

I try to participate on the lemmy.world community but it's pretty slow.

pyrflie ,

I refer to my pending heart attack in 30 years lovingly.

That sweet release.

pyrflie ,

Don't you threaten me with a good time.

pyrflie ,

It would mean more if the pictures were labeled. I can't tell Elsa from Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, or Kairi. 4/10.

pyrflie ,

Let me guess, Onions.

pyrflie ,

Nah man, losing money to a Tymoran in town means she favors you in the dungeons. It's her version of a tithe.

Lose 10 bob in town for advantage at the DMs discretion in the dungeon. Hell I give my players an inspiration point anytime they gamble with a Tymoran; they can win the bet or something more important later. I think of it like the Luck domain from 3.5e.

pyrflie ,

Don't blame him too much he was really drunk at the time. Fucking Johnny Appletree and his cider.

pyrflie ,

Because there are a whole crowd of people that realize that this should have happened sooner and would have without Citizens United. Bribery is free speech in the US right now. The only reason this is happening is that the wrong people were inconvenienced.

pyrflie ,

Anywhere diarrhea isn't the norm. This means well water (holy shit is that a lot of digging) or treated water. Either way that shit costs money. The alternative is boiling. Tea and alcohol were popular for centuries for a reason. Clean Water is something of a modern luxury.

pyrflie ,

Honestly I don't know how they dress, but it can't be worse than us. I remember when pants hanging mid thigh was cool. We just got lucky boxers we're the thing at the time.

pyrflie ,

Considering the crowd; you're better off outside. Heaven is populated with zealots. Heaven for the Weather, Hell for the Company.

No spoilers please, but does Old Man’s War get better?

I’ve been really enjoying John Scalzi’s catalog- Started with Starter Villain (delightful!), The Kaiju Preservation Society (Sweet..), Lock In + Head On (fun who-done-its), The Android’s Dream (clever, enjoyable read), Agent to the Stars (funny, creative, pretty good)....

pyrflie ,

Yeah, it's more of a Cyberpunk war doc. If you aren't depressed at the end it hasn't done it's job. And it does it's job quite well.

pyrflie ,

I beat an ancient Egyptian god to death with a Q-tip. Any claim Assassin's Creed might have had to approximating historical accuracy died several games ago even if we ignore the Ancient Aliens bullshit that's been around since the begining.

pyrflie , (edited )

Correct, they were looking for the "apple of eden" (golden orb from the first few games). It gets revealed by the end of the Renaissance arc that objects they are looking for are technological remnants of an ancient civilization that created humans as a slave race by stripping out parts of their own genetic code. It's a bastardized version Sichin's Ancient Aliens "theory".

pyrflie ,

Yeah it's for the new AC Shadows trailer, one of the main characters is a black samurai.

pyrflie ,

I prefer the side cut options. No sharp edges but you still get good penetration and drainage. Zishi was the best option the last time I bought 5.

pyrflie ,

I will agree that 5000K (blue/white) really shouldn't be used outside of few healthcare/industrial scenarios, but 4000/3500K (white) is a great color temp for outdoor lighting. 3000/2700K (yellow) doesn't have the same punch and ends up resulting in more light pollution as you have to add more fixtures to achieve desired light levels. As for amber (I assume this is what you mean by red) that's only really needed in coastal regions for wildlife purposes.

pyrflie ,

San Fransisco 1880 would be a plausible setting. The only one that would kinda be out there would be the Samurai and even that's not too far of a stretch.

pyrflie ,

Actually there are several pretty good settings in the 1860s-80s, California, New York, London, Hong Kong, and Egypt (Suez Canal constructed 1859-1869). The more I looked into it the richer it got.

pyrflie ,

This was my thinking for the Samurai, we are basically looking at embassy staff and exiles that managed to retain their weapons.

pyrflie ,

In a more refined society she would be referred to as a Warlord of the Bedchamber.

pyrflie ,

It's just a different duality those that want to pain the world red and those that want to paint it white.

pyrflie ,

Let's be fair to Minty, she has commandeered the car to go and pick you up at the cart stop because while she doesn't understand your need to return it you are powerful and valuable to her (for the time being at least).

pyrflie ,

Based on this Ice is the warmest water.

pyrflie ,

Feels my man.

Steam is distant. Water is close. Ice is Love.

pyrflie ,

Some are and I do.

Hoppers roasted, grilled, and fried are pretty damn good.

pyrflie ,

If true I can respect it. Shellfish is a common allergy and I can imagine the same for arthropods.

pyrflie ,

Kobold Artificer. Favorite class and second favorite race; hell of a combo.

Most of my campaigns: Monster races banned.

I've gotten to play a Bugbear once and a Kobold once. They are some of my favorite campaigns.

pyrflie ,

Assuming employees don't leave or expense use of personal devices. I have expensed my burner phone due to 2factor overuse by an employer.

pyrflie ,

If you are a business that uses 2factor you should expect to have your employees expense their phone bills as you are using a private resource. You may need to provide the phone as well. If you are willing to pay this it's probably the most secure form of account security.

Otherwise go with an oath service. If you have less than 6 users it will be significantly cheaper.

pyrflie ,

Me as a DM: "God I hope they are, I don't know how they will survive otherwise." Pencils in Dracolich.

pyrflie ,

As soon as I knew Alan Tudyk was in it I didn't need to know anything else.

pyrflie , (edited )

Haruki Murakami is probably the best fit for the time limit you've requested as his first book was published in 1979, he's considered to be one of greatest living authors, and Kafka on the Shore is a classic.

That said my nomination would be Brian Jacques. His children's series Redwall is a long running classic on par with Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland.

pyrflie ,

American Gods and Neverwhere are classics. Neil Gaiman's place on this list is assured and well deserved.

pyrflie ,

I love it too, but American Gods is it's wellspring.

Honestly, Stardust is probably my favorite of his.

pyrflie ,

Upvoted for Bujold and Cherryh. That said I prefer Bujold's Sharing Knife.

Based on the company I have to check out Tepper.

pyrflie ,

Children of Time and Shards of Earth are great and Tchaikovsky will only get better.

pyrflie ,

Great Author sadly disqualified due to date for the thread.

My only hope for her is that she has more to put out before she passes. Damned good author.

pyrflie ,

Sadly I think both would want it, though as you said for different reason. To our detriment either way sadly.

pyrflie ,

Anesthesia is pretty damn dangerous. There are a ton of modern Dentists abandoning the practice to Dental Surgeons.

That level of liability would kill Gynecology due to insurance.

pyrflie ,

Several cities have replaced them with AI that alert the police and hang up on the caller.
