BYD has been making buses and work trucks for the US market for years. I've only had a ride on a few BYD buses, but they seem to be quality.

I always recommend older (2-3 years behind) thinkpads and Dell latitudes. Most people don't need latest and greatest, far more bang for you buck, and they're relatively easy to repair.

Plus, it doesn't hurt to keep a perfectly good machine out of a landfill.

Most of these gripes are solved by simply not buying the flagship and instead purchasing the $200 unlocked version.

Now the battery, that's the one that pisses me off the most. But at this point we've been doing it for 10 years.
