    @ScottStarkey Martha Wells is an author, and I’ve found myself thoroughly enjoying her Murderbot series.

    Gurdeep is inspirational. He performs Bangra dance with people and in amazing locations, and his joy and positivity are infectious.

    @futurebird is all about ants and other really cool life forms, as well as science and current events. Big brain, great words.

    @otownKim One could argue that your original statement was opinion, since you didn’t bring actual literature or documents when you made it. Stating there are liars and opportunists in both parties isn’t bothsidesism; it’s a fundamental fact of politics. Things are bad, and arguing with allies is unproductive. @SailorDisco

    One thing I really enjoy about Fedi is the imagined relationships I have with people (not like that). The imagined alliances (ride together, die together). The imagined feuds (you have unfollowed me now prepare to face your doom). There are people I get mixed up, including two guys in particular - one who's very gentle and sweet and one who posts stuff like "FUCKING, gonna go out and punch a fuckn.... baby, grr, bloody... bastard" (sorry I couldn't think of anything they might actually say so did my best approximation). In reality it's just people, bored, saying "I had a sandwich" then there's some berk (me) on the other side of the planet going "YES! I eat sandwiches too! We are now brethren! Let us go into battle together". I wonder if I might spend too much time on social media.

    The best thing about growing up the way I did was becoming an adult who broke the cycle. My kids have no schema for living in abuse, and no matter what else I do as a parent or human, I feel like that’s a pretty damned good accomplishment.

    What happened to combined shampoo and conditioner? Why are my family having to take two bottles into the shower? I thought things were supposed to be moving forwards not backwards. At this point we should be taking half a bottle or no bottle into the shower. Just taking a pill or having some kind of laser fired at our hair. SORT IT OUT, SHAMPOO AND/OR CONDITIONER INDUSTRY!

    🤦🏻‍♀️Prosecutors on Tuesday announced an agreement with #Texas Attorney General Ken #Paxton that would ultimately dismiss securities fraud charges he has been facing for nearly a decade.

    Under the 18-mo pre-trial agreement, special prosecutors in the case would drop 3 felony counts against Paxton. As part of the deal, Paxton must pay full restitution to victims — roughly $300K — & must also complete 100 hours of community service and 15 hours of legal ethics educ.”

Not only because it was longer, but also because the characters have developed so well - Murderbot’s & ART’s lines had me laughing out loud at several points.     "Crazy Legs" lives in Australia. he raises various bull ants, as I assume anyone lucky enough to live in Australia would. This is a video about moving his Myrmecia nigrocincta colony to a fantastic new nest of their own design.

    It shows how the ants react to getting help from a giant (imagine a bunch of babies being dumped into your front door.) And the ways ants help each other when confused (happens often as they are just little ants.)

    The books of the Bible(s) would be extremely challenging ancient texts in the best of circumstances— without complications, or such high stakes they would be very hard to read, even for serious scholars— So, this idea that you can just “go read the Bible” and find wisdom is frankly buck wild and dangerous. I was brought up constantly being told that I should “study the Bible” but of course I didn’t. I don’t think the people who tell you “read the Bible” really expect you to do it. 1/
