We recently did the change to induction here, and the only thing I miss from my gas burner is my non stick pan that was aluminum. I did need to buy a few other replacements, but I haven't found a non stick 12" in a store that I can make chili cheesy Mac in. (The tomato base eats the carbon steel seasoning, and I don't want to spend a bunch on a pan that is delicate)

Some day though.

The slow response stove you mention is a radiant electric stove, induction is much more instant action, and finding one with reasonable knobs is easy these days. (It's also easy to find ones with digital controls that would confuse more people than it's worth)

Induction works almost exactly like a wireless phone charger, except that the power (as heat) instead goes directly into your pan's bottom.

Yeah, I've not found one at local places idly looking, tfal for instance has made their induction ready ones only on their higher end pans.

I've got a... Collection? Of Pots and pans, I just want a cheap Teflon pan for a few recipes, And when I don't want to train house guests on seasoned pans.

I will have to train said house guests to not use high heat though, 3700w cooks. (We had a cheap, low performing gas stove, so this is a huge upgrade)

Teensy 4.1 tiny power IC replacement, Tips needed

I have a project that is using a Teensy 4.1, the cheep 5v regulator I was using in the project let the magic smoke out for no good reason. I replaced that but now the Teensy boots and runs for about a min then quits. There is a TLV75733P power IC that is supplying the 3v3 and it gets hot then quits supplying power. Since that...

Are you sure you replaced the 5v regulator with a pin compatible one?

The tlv75733 is a linear regulator, so if you are giving it more voltage than it was set up for, it will get hot, as it has to soak up the difference.

Does the teensy act the same when powered by USB instead? If not, it's not the tlv.

Edit: the tlv has a thermal shutdown, so the shutdown is a direct result of the overheating.

DIY electronics and Insurance

I am working on a WLED project, using a esp32 in a 3d printed enclosere. But my dad says that i can't install it because it is not UL listed. He is worried if the house burns down, the insurance company won't insure it due to diy electronics possibly starting a fire. What am i to do, i am not developing a project to sell?

Is it a 5, 12 or 24v project? If it's 5v, use a USB power brick, that will be ul rated.

The NEC says that anything under 50v is low voltage and not considered hazardous.

Note for you: phones aren't UL tested for safety. As I read it this morning, Their listing falls under UL110, a sustainability spec for product lifecycles. And a battery spec or two.

Nice project though! I've got a handful of LED strips, mostly in the kitchen and more lighting outside. One thing you might care about is to give your wled instance a station ip address.
