I have interests in: #climatechange as it seems the world many be a very unpleasant place for my kids and grandkids, the #environment for a similar reason, #physics as it makes our civilisation possible, #astrophotography because it’s cool, #photography as I like capturing the moment, #renewableenergy as it’s the only way out of the #climatecrisis, renewable powered vehicles as #evs and hydrogen is the way of #fossilfuels.

@randahl my kids tell me that I over assume that people know or care about politics or world affairs. After taking that on board I started to watch person on the street interviews and came to the conclusion that most people have no idea.

@afouxenidis apparently logic doesn’t apply to US policy. It seems that Russia commits war crimes but Israel can’t. I assume that Hamas can too but it’s awkward as that would mean comparing Israel and Hamas as the warrants were issued together.

Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has been shot in an assassination attempt in the town of Handlova. In a video, the Prime Minister can be seen approaching a group of citizens to shake hands, when one citizen suddenly aims a handgun at the PM and fires five shots.

Robert Fico was immediately transferred by helicopter to F. D. Roosevelt University Hospital in the City of Banská. Deputive Prime Minister Tomáš Taraba says, Robert Fico’s condition is “not life-threatening”.

@lowqualityfacts Chinese food in Australia used to be a unique thing that probably occurred nowhere else (except maybe New Zealand) in the world. What we used to call Chinese food is now largely only found in outback towns where they still love it and occasionally revolts grey nomads. Chinese cuisine in the cities has moved up market and is still not representative of the food served in China.

@randahl @shansterable for anyone else the legal system would freeze assets, put them under arrest (house or otherwise), enforce contempt or court, etc. but not for a supposed rich person. It’s definitely a 2 or 3 speed legal system.

@dymaxion @davemark I agree that CCR for dealing with climate change is irrelevant if there are still greenhouse emissions. In this case the deal looks more like replacing fossil fuels as a feedstock which may be useful in driving the evil companies out of business.

Put simply, the Court allowed Trump to stay on the ballot in order to avoid an outcome that would raise the “national temperature.” My objection is that Judges should not bend to the will of an insurrectionist simply to placate his supporters.

@CelloMomOnCars thanks. I suppose that I was considering the Australian context where heating is not a big issue in a lot of areas and for a lesser time than in the north. The distances between the industrial areas and the residential areas can be quite large. It would definitely work better where the population density is higher.

@CelloMomOnCars the cost of adding CCS to just doesn’t look to be sensible. The process to create blue hydrogen costs energy and CCS also costs energy just as it does to all those fossil fuel using industrial processes then more energy is needed/wasted. It all seems counterintuitive and that green hydrogen would be a better solution. Must be a billionaire or two in there wanting it.
