"People in #Gaza have told us that the dead are the lucky ones, because the wounded suffer so acutely due to the Israeli authorities’ blockade of lifesaving aid."
At least nine people have been killed and 30 injured after Israeli bombs struck a group of people awaiting aid trucks near the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) border crossing in Rafah, southern Gaza.
There is no right or left in Israel. Israelis have been blocking aid from accessing Gaza all along. Majority of Israeli oppose humanitarian aid.
#genocidejoe Biden has sanctioned one group as a token gesture but that's “...a little bit like there’s a raging fire, they pour a cup of water on it, and at the same time they’re providing gasoline to fan the flames…"
Netanyahu is opposed to plans announced by the military to hold daily tactical pauses in fighting along one of the main roads into the besieged and bombarded Gaza Strip to facilitate aid delivery into the Palestinian enclave.
I sent a news item on the "tactical pauses' announced by the IOF. Here's more detail.
IOF spokesperson Daniel Hagari (a piece of work as you can imagine) insisted that: “There is no cessation of fighting in the southern Gaza Strip, and the fighting in Rafah continues. Also, there is no change in the introduction of goods into the Gaza Strip,”
We are none the wiser and Gazans will keep starving, thanks to Israel.
The Israeli military says it will pause fighting in the south of the Gaza Strip, during certain hours, to allow humanitarian #aid deliveries to enter the besieged enclave.
The army said in a post on X that the pause would begin at 8 am (05:00 GMT) and remain in effect until 7 pm (16:00 GMT), and would be repeated each day until further notice.
The announcement comes after eight Israeli soldiers were killed on Saturday in a Hamas ambush in the southern city of Rafah.
"The announcement of sanctions against the group came just a day after Israeli media reported that Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai claimed far-right National Security Minister Ben-Gvir had exerted pressure to stop law enforcement from safeguarding aid convoys to Gaza"
"The sanctions freeze the group's assets in the United States..."
IMO, this is piss poor. US should stop arming Israel. Period.
On Wednesday, #UNICEF had a mission to drive a truck full of nutritional and medical supplies for 10,000 children. Their task was to deliver the aid, which was preapproved by Israeli authorities, from Deir el-Balah to Gaza City, a 40km (25 miles) round trip.
It took 13 hours and we spent eight of those around checkpoints, arguing around paperwork – was it a truck or a van. This truck was denied access.
So Blinken has promised $400 million aid to Palestinians.
This is whilst the US continues to grant BILLIONS of tax payers money in military and financial aid to Israel, the occupier country, the one causing the damage in Palestine.
I so wish the US electorate would stop voting for these jokers, Rep and Dems, and empowered a third party, Cornel West, Jill Stein or Chase Oliver. Reps and Dems are at the service of a foreign state: Israel.
“Palestinian women, and the organizations they lead, are also at the heart of the current humanitarian response."
With 35% of their offices destroyed and 89% damaged, women-led organisations remain essential in providing life-saving services in #Gaza and the #WestBank.
#GazaPier repaired, #US to resume #aid, #Pentagon says
US & #Israel reattached a floating pier to the #Gaza coastline Fri, ofcls said, as the #UnitedStates prepares to resume #humanitarian ops. Vice Adm Brad Cooper, a snr US military officer overseeing the mission, said deliveries of food & other badly needed supplies will begin “in coming days.” The first will include 500k pounds of aid, w/thousands of tons more in the pipeline behind it.
An Israeli strike killed three family members travelling by car in central Gaza’s Nuseirat. The people killed ran a kitchen providing free meals for Gaza’s displaced.
The Israeli military has lifted a ban on the sale of food to Gaza from Israel & the occupied #WestBank as its battlefield offensive chokes international aid, acc/to #Palestinian officials, businessmen (sic) & international aid workers.
Distributing #aid entails more than just simply bringing in trucks into the Gaza Strip.
“Humanitarian assistance is a really complex echo system of activities that we need to legitimise throughout that whole chain. It is not just about crossing the border; it is about moving supplies around the border, it’s about having humanitarian workers who are safe, able to treat people, able to distribute food safely and to be able themselves to have somewhere to live."
Doctors Without Borders @palestine
The #UnitedStates is preparing a $275M #military#aid package for #Ukraine, which will include 155mm artillery shells, precision aerial munitions & ground vehicles….
The weapons aid, which could be announced as soon as Fri, will utilize Presidential Drawdown Authority, which authorizes the president to transfer articles & services from US stocks w/o specific congressional approval during an emergency.
As a part of the $95B aid bills, #Congress authorized $60.8B worth of various forms of #aid to #Ukraine, including $8B worth of presidential drawdown authority items.
While the package mainly includes munitions, it also includes vehicles that are designed to recover disabled tanks & other heavy equipment from the battlefield, a sign that the #UnitedStates expects attacks & equipment losses to continue.
"Israeli soldiers and police tipping off groups that attack Gaza aid trucks" ...
"Individual members of Israel’s security forces are tipping off far-right activists and settlers to the location of #aid trucks delivering vital supplies to #Gaza, enabling the groups to block and vandalise the convoys, according to multiple sources.
#Settlers intercepting the vital #humanitarian supplies to the strip are receiving information about the location of the aid trucks from members of the Israeli police and military, a spokesperson from the main Israeli activist group behind the blockades told the #Guardian.
The claim of collusion by members of the security forces is supported by messages from internal internet chat groups reviewed by the Guardian as well as accounts from a number of witnesses and human rights activists."
The Israeli forces have prevented 3,000 aid trucks from entering Gaza in the past two weeks, according to a statement by the Gaza media office.
The office said in a statement on Telegram that the army has also prevented 690 sick and wounded people from travelling abroad for treatment as the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings stay closed for the 13th day in a row.
“The hospital system in Gaza has all but collapsed. We have paediatricians in field hospitals in Gaza who said that they are seeing cases of malnutrition. They are seeing hepatitis, jaundice, gastroenteritis. These are horrific challenges facing children. And we just do not have supplies or enough personnel to deal with this.”
