I hope the Biden campaign's math accounts for losing votes from Muslim Americans, college/university students, and the anti-war crowd (largely millennials and Gen Z across all religious and ethnic backgrounds).

Either these groups' losses do not affect their calculus, or they've made serious missteps.

It's frightening that the race remains tight despite the alternative. Quite the comment on the current state of American democracy.

@anubis2814 @Laukidh @SocialJusticeHeals In 2016, Florida had slightly more Dems registered than Republicans. That flipped in 2020.Democrats stopped spending money here due to electoral math. Now thanks to voter suppression and other tactics, there are a million more Republicans registered than Dems. Biden has no chance.

#FreePalestine protestors have blocked the Golden Gate bridge and northbound I-880. The news is bemoaning the fact that they've got seven people locked down on concrete filled barrels and the cops are having a very hard time sawing through the contraptions to clear the road. They think the freeway might be closed most of the day.

A few brave Singaporeans unfurled this banner between the towers of Marina Bay Sands, in a country where any public protest is illegal without prior approval and only allowed at one park (and the authorities already said all registered protest applications relating to Gaza will be denied)

If they were foreigners they would almost certainly be deported. As citizens they’ll definitely see some legal action

There was an earlier article , ill try to find it, explaining how trucks by land is the most effective and efficient way of fighting famine, and that UNRWA already has the infrastructure and logistics to handle delivering 500 trucks a day.

@robert Years ago , I did some work for a company that found a web developer was using one of their machines to work for another client. I heard a lawyer get this contractor on the phone, and to start the conversation, he asked, "Does your profession have any ethics standards?"

I didn't hear the rest of the conversation, but at the time the answer was no. w3c has since published some, but it looks like it's still considered a Draft note.

The #IDF attacked the #Gaza Strip during the war with the assistance of an #AI-based data system called "Lavender", which incriminated 37,000 men as potential #Hamas and Islamic Jihad (#IJ) activists. According to an investigation published by the local news site "Sikha Mekomit" publised also in The Guardian, in addition to using this system, intelligence sources stated that the army had set quotas for killing uninvolved civilians before certain assassinations.

According to two sources, in the first weeks of the war, the army approved strikes on junior operatives that could kill 15-20 civilians in addition to the targets. They said that attacks on such targets were usually carried out with "stupid bombs" that destroyed entire homes and killed their inhabitants.

[...] “This is unparalleled, in my memory,” said one intelligence officer who used Lavender, adding that they had more faith in a “statistical mechanism” than a grieving soldier. “Everyone there, including me, lost people on October 7. The machine did it coldly. And that made it easier.”

[...] “Because we usually carried out the attacks with dumb bombs, and that meant literally dropping the whole house on its occupants. But even if an attack is averted, you don’t care – you immediately move on to the next target. Because of the system, the targets never end. You have another 36,000 waiting.”
