My daughter has a friend named Hayley. She is not amused when I spell it heighleigh

Jimmyeatsausage ,

I truly believe that Trump and MAGA are a threat, and while I consider myself pretty left, I clearly don't meet your definition. I'm willing to compromise. So tell me, what is your plan to keep to Trump out of the White House. As long as it's not starting our own genocide of everyone we disagree with (this one will be ok though because its the leftists doing the killing) and it's at least plausible, I'm game. What's your plan?

Jimmyeatsausage ,

He's almost enough to make me believe again...

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think warning people they might expose themselves to csam meets the definition of "broke the internet". I bet if you replace "girl" with "woman" you'll get the expected results.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

And what they said about Trump in 2016

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Hell yeah, we won't when we won't listen to the guy who says he'll be a dictator on day one, arrest his political rivals and sick the national guard or DOJ on members of the wrong political party. The one arguing in the multiple courts across the country that nobody can be a President if they have to worry about laws...

The House GOP just gave Biden’s campaign a huge gift: Roughly 80 percent of House Republicans just lined up behind a plan to cut Social Security and ban all abortions ( www.vox.com )

Donald Trump would be on track to win a historic landslide in November — if so many US voters didn’t find him personally repugnant....

Jimmyeatsausage ,

The people still supporting Trump, by and large, live in an entirely different reality than the rest of us. Even among Republicans, the belief that Biden actually won the last election or that Trump has done anything wrong is strongly correlated with Fox News viewership.

I mean, he said on day 1, after descending his golden escalator, he was funding everything himself, and they've been paying him every day since. I'm not sure why they'd stop now.

I sure hope all this stress combined with a diet of big macs and snorting Adderall doesn't give him a fatal heart attack (•_•)

Major Asset Seizure Likely as Trump Can't Afford Bond for NY Fraud Case ( www.commondreams.org )

Less than a month after New York Attorney General Letitia James said she would be willing to seize former Republican President Donald Trump's assets if he is unable to pay the $464 million required by last month's judgment in his civil fraud case, Trump's lawyers disclosed in court filings Monday that he had failed to secure a...

Jimmyeatsausage ,

It's Trump...I'm sure he claimed both and neither.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

This is so low-res it looks generated. Lots of weird-looking artifacts, especially around the table. If it's real, I'd love to see higher-res versions.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

That vote was held before Trump had full control over the RNC coffers...anyone who doesn't vote the way Trump wants them to will either see a party-funded challenge from their right during their next primary or no funding during the general.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

I legit love this idea and am going to start equating these guys with the guys that have those ahegao faces all over their car.

Katie Britt Blames Everyone but Herself in Shameless Fundraising Plea ( www.thedailybeast.com )

After a State of the Union rebuttal that even some in her own party felt embarrassed by, Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) is trying to use that backlash to her advantage, writing in a fundraising email Tuesday that her “heart is broken” for those she said she was speaking on behalf of....

By allowing other women to make different decisions than she would. Allowing trans people to exist destroys her identity as a woman because other women might be different or have different experiences. Allowing others to get an abortion destroys her identity as a mother because if they made a different choice and thought it was right for them... how can she ever know if her own decision was right? Or maybe she was never afforded a choice and so seeks to deprive others of what she was denied.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

No. Only use epoch. Oh crap...I was supposed to be at work at 1710337651! Gotta go!

I wonder if he feels the same about healthcare, housing, food, and clean water. Regardless of how much shit he has, he can live in the same apartment with the same public water and food deserts and a doctor that isn't on his personal staff.

196 Stands with Palestine, but those of you in the US should still vote in the general election.

I've been seeing a lot of anti-voting sentiment going around. Can't believe I have to say this, but you need to vote. Not only is there more to the election than just the president. (State policy, Senate, house), but not voting is not an act of protest. C'mon guys

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Unfortunately, lots of folks here on lemmy seem antithetical to the idea that slow or minor progress still counts as progress. Maybe it's a communication issue inherent to this format, but the crux of the argument I see most often is "Biden did genocide, genocide is bad. Therefore, any support for Biden is support for genocide outright."

It seems like an inability or unwillingness to recognize degrees of tragedy...it's the worst case of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm getting pretty damn nervous about the number of folks saying outright that they won't ever vote for Biden because they don't accept the premise that, as long as we still have FPTP elections and the electoral college, voting anyone other than the mainstream Dem candidate makes a Republican victory more likely, regardless of the candidates either party puts forward. I know that at least some of these folks are just trolls, but we're on a razor-thin margin, and in a scenario where 100k votes across a handful of states will likely decide the contest, I worry about even a single person being talked out of participating meaningfully in the election.

It's exasperated by the fact that, for a lot of young voters, every election they've been old enough to participate in has been a boring old white person vs a wannabe dictator and so they've started feeling like "it's the most important election ever" is just a scare tactic to make them vote blue.

I think the methane is a better marker...AFAIK, it's almost always a byproduct of some biological process.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Bruh...that's why I said almost.

I also got about 1/2 way through typing almost the same response below about gases that naturally degrade quickly, not being able to accumulate to high enough concentrations to be detectable at these distances but @TropicalDingDing did so more eloquently than their name would indicate possible, so I'll let you read theirs here: https://lemmy.world/comment/8258449

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Yes, we know...you're all brave little Republicans, risking it all to save your party. Right up until Trump notices you.

He'll like the boot like all the others.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Well, not financially anyway. Maybe a promise for a future political favor if he wins? Not that I'd accuse a Swiss financial interest of working with fascists...

Jimmyeatsausage ,

I do think they're trying, but its gotta be complex and error-prone to extrapolate like that, especially if there's some confounding factor that correlates to the likelihood of receiving an answer.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

While I do really hate this guy, and I also assume he isn't mentally fit to manage a Wendy's, never mind being president...we shouldn't be listening to doctors willing to diagnose psychiatric conditions or mental health based on how someone is acting on TV. No doctor can get enough data to make an accurate diagnosis that way.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

What? Absolutely not. Are you talking to people on your TV? More importantly, are they answering your questions? Have you ever even had a telemedicine appointment?

Jimmyeatsausage ,

I'm pretty sure that if Biden just decided to withhold (conditionally or otherwise) weapons for Israel that had already been flagged for that purpose by Congress, he'd be running a foul the same rules Trump violated by withholding aid from Ukraine. And regardless of whether he was doing it because he had a legitimate change-of-heart, it would totally look like it was for political gain after the uncommitted votes in the primary.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

I assume that threat is on the table at this point. If we blow our whole wad at once, we won't be able to ratchet up the pressure each time we need to. Between letting Netanyahu's political rivals meet with the US government and the VP speaking up now, too. The pattern of incremental pressure is pretty apparent. We don't want to end up in a situation where we have no leverage left and the war continues.

Meanwhile, Trump is saying Israel should "finish the job" in Gaza.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Are you mad about a politician changing course because the voters wanted him to?

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Maybe not... but that isn't up to us either. We gotta do what we can with what we have.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Ahh, yes, the "let's solve murder with more murder" approach. It's works flawlessly throughout human history.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Weird how "shall" means something totally different in the 2nd amendment than anywhere else in the document...those wacky founders!

Jimmyeatsausage ,

It's also not ok to splinter the coalition with purity tests. If someone is pro democracy, pro LGBTQ, pro women's rights, pro science, pro immigration, pro education, pro Ukraine, and pro Israel, I still want them in the fight.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Why are those SD cards so big?

Kidding...I'm 40.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

I think uncommitted in this case is actually sending a very specific message. One that would be lost if you voted for another candidate.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Only if you believe that there's a difference between an active pedophile and gay couple or a trans person. Some these folks don't believe there is, and the one's that do believe there is probably see getting a bunch of liberal teachers declared sex offenders as a multi-front win. Removes even stealth support for those kids from school so they are truly alone, gets the teachers out of school so they aren't "indoctrinating" the kids with history and science, and it gives you "proof" that the left is full of the Jim Jordans and Matt Gaetzs too.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

For a second, I thought it was generated. Field and clouds looked to picturesque, and the castle has very unusual dimensions in my limited knowledge of castles.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

And that would be a powerful argument if the power of the presidency extended only to Gaza. Let's keep doing what Michigan did and show our anger in the primaries. Worst case, they ignore it. In the best case, they get scared and listen.

EITHER WAY, when it's down to Trump v Biden, remember those who don't have the luxury to "watch the world burn for 4 more years." Even if you concede that Biden is objectively as bad at handling Gaza as Trump would be (I truly believe Trump will be miles worse), there are so many more lives on the line.

Jimmyeatsausage ,

Dictator for today

Jimmyeatsausage ,

"Actually, we put Trump above God, not before him...so it's all good!"

Jimmyeatsausage ,

It's bad when private entities discriminate. It's a million times worse when the government does.

Edit: I did forget to mention though, being a bitch isn't a protected class...sexual orientation is.
