Aiming such a thing would be more than an art.....

Spectrum Call Center in Charlotte, NC Reportedly Provided Fried Chicken and Watermelon to Employees for Juneteenth ( thencbeat.com )

“We want to acknowledge some feedback received regarding our Juneteenth celebration,” Pezzuto said in his letter obtained by The North Carolina Beat. “Although our intent was to celebrate this nationally recognized day, some of you voiced your concerns regarding the associated food choices.”...

ColeSloth ,

Who the hell doesn't agree that fried chicken is awesome, though?

Also, I bet you anything that if you did some digging into who it was at the company that was in charge of the concessions, it was a black person.

ColeSloth ,

What are you going to say when everyone finds out it was a black person who was in charge of the food and drink choices?

ColeSloth ,

Well get to it, then.

ColeSloth , (edited )

I'm suggesting that everyone complaining and wanting "they" to do something is a large part of the problem of why nothing changes. Everyone wants someone to do something, but no one wants to be that someone doing it.

*oh no. The down votes. That's fixing everything. Oh my.

ColeSloth ,

Now that could be doing something.

ColeSloth ,

I'm not discouraging that. Go for it.

ColeSloth ,

I want to know what the company fucked up. I assume they were contaminated with something.

ColeSloth ,

You mean the Bayer that gave Hepatitis C, HIV, and Aids, to thousands of hemophilia patients outside of the US back in the 1980"s because they didn't want to take a profit loss on their HIV tainted meds that they had?

ColeSloth ,

That last 8.4 they got in season 27 episode 9 was called Barthood. It was a nice episode. Here's the wiki.

Even Castro had universal Healthcare.

Can someone explain me USA obsession with prom and similar school rituals?

I just don't get it... Why is that important, especially for kids now, that feel like they need to do a YouTube video asking for a date or doing some meme stuff. Some teens even hire the hottest celebrity or ask them to appear in their prom? This is so bizarre for me, all that just for a frivolous night....

ColeSloth ,

That's like asking why people celebrate holidays.

That's all it is. It's a holiday that's just for teens.

ColeSloth ,

The article doesn't state how big the "area" is, but the employ fences along the sides for quite a ways in order to make it hard for animals to just get on the highways, and that while the 80% is overall, it states that deer and elk collisions went all the way down to 96% less.

ColeSloth ,

Not really. Battery tech has always been advancing. Even today electric vehicles have barely come up with anything new, battery wise. Everyone wants something better than lithium base. No one can get anything to market.

ColeSloth ,

Yes, but no one's even glancing at it for use in vehicles. The one that's finally getting into production is 70wh/Kg. Not nearly energy dense enough yet for ev's. Lithium batteries are closer to 300wh/Kg. In other words, they take up 1/4th the space and weight. EV's are already a thousand pounds heavier than non ev's and that's already causing extra tire pollution issues and having to overbuild suspension parts and bearings. Making them another 3,000 pounds heavier than that is just out of the question. Let alone making the space to fit the battery.

Sodium is going to change the world with its power storage capabilities connected to solar.
Anyone on like 75% of the planet could 100% live off the electric grid problem free with enough solar panels and a big sodium storage battery.

ColeSloth ,

Yep. A size of vehicle wise comparison would be that a tesla model s sedan weighs around 4,600 pounds. A toyota Corolla weighs around 1,600 pounds less at around 3,000 pounds.

Even the newest and most powerful mass produced American made car ever, the "C8 Corvette Z06" with its big V8 gas engine with 670 horsepower weighs in at around 3,650 pounds.

ColeSloth ,

I have an absolutely mint condition US new 3dsxl with an extended battery pack/grip that's already been hacked to rip games and play roms.

I never use it anymore. Anyone know if for sale posts are allowed in here, because I'm thinking I should sell it to someone who would use it.

ColeSloth ,

It used to be, at least. I dunno if the amiibo thing still works after Nintendo shut the shop down or not.

ColeSloth ,

I've worked or volunteered for 4 different fire departments. Zero of them had any sort of diamond cutter anything that could be used for this.

ColeSloth ,

I mean, I have something at my house that would probably work a bit.

ColeSloth ,

Lol. There's "the jaws of life", but those don't cut. We have "cutters" that are equally bad ass and powerful, but they're still made of hardened steel, so they won't cut the titanium, and they're shaped/work like a beetles mandibles, so even if the could cut it, it would slide down on the ring before cutting. That would do a hell of a lot of damage.

ColeSloth ,

The pay website won't allow me to read it. How much are they actually getting paid right now?

ColeSloth ,

27k and bunches of wasted time....yeah. that's idiotic. I can't believe they even get applications.

ColeSloth ,

What do you think they'd do to someone who turns the money over and snitches? There's no available sure win.

ColeSloth ,

What are you using it for, and how much space are you looking to need? This info will change recommendations.

Why do posters say that increase in Linux Steam share doesnt count becuase its mostly steam deck users?

It's not the gotcha that they think it is. Increasing share of Linux, steam deck or not is progress. Any development or considerations made for the SteamDeck and its Arch based OS benefit the non SteamDeck Linux gaming scene too....

ColeSloth ,

People are buying a game system that uses Linux. They aren't choosing Linux, and most of them aren't using it as an operating system of any sort aside from gaming. So yeah. It only half counts.

ColeSloth ,

I wish I could still get a higher end phone with an SD card slot. I'm holding onto my s20 ultra (I like the pen) until I'm forced out for security update reasons.

ColeSloth ,

Yeah. I have t mobile, so the xperia 1 V, and the newly released but not officially sold in the US xperia 1 VI would work, but rare phones tend to lack support, amd I can't bring myself to shell out $1400 for a phone like that.

ColeSloth ,

She's probably alive because she's already cut a deal with the narcos. I believe over a dozen other candidates were gunned down, along with some family members. I doubt that her and her family managed to get out of all that from simple luck.

ColeSloth ,

She's a shadow puppet of the last president, and he didn't do anything to stop the narcos or the murders. Why would you think she's different?

ColeSloth ,

Ok. How do you think it's flawed? The drug lords literally killed over a dozen other candidates, the current president was looking the other way on their business, and this woman worked with that president and is known to have similar views.

So where's the flaw, my guy?

ColeSloth ,

Well of course it's speculation. It doesn't make it untrue or very unlikely, though. It's just not a certainty. What is a certainty was that a dozen+ candidates were murdered, but there weren't any attempts of her or her family.

ColeSloth ,

32GB of ram is absolutely still enough. Your biggest boost will be getting an m.2 drive, if you aren't already on one. Much faster and more reliable than an ssd.

As for windows and re-installation of everything....yes. there are technically a couple workarounds you could do, but really, you're way better off just doing a fresh install of everything on an m.2 drive. If you want to stay with windows, it may be easier to pirate win 10 rather than going through customer service, but de0ending on how you own your current windows, microsoft customer service may be able to hook you up.

ColeSloth ,

I rather liked it. I mean he was just re-phrasing questions he's seen without having to bother with direct quotes and making sure the questions were articulate.

It's pretty important to get this info out there and make sure everyone and their 2nd cousin knows about it. If Microsoft can't make this absolutely infallible on a security front it will almost be laughable at how many people could get completely fucked over by this. Every hacker and country in the world are going to be poking at the security of this feature. It would be the holy grail of infosec penetration.

ColeSloth ,

Dude. This is loaded as fuck misinformation and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Cod fishing on Canada's eastern coastal area has been banned since 1992. That's why it's flattened out to nothing all of a sudden. They stopped Cod fishing there.

ColeSloth ,

Drove a ton in the 90s all across the US as well every year there was a couple several thousand mile vacations starting from near Kansas city.

The bugs were bad, but we never needed a bug screen on the grill. I never even remember seeing something like that exist, actually. Definitely less bugs now, though.

ColeSloth ,

The little thumbnail image on my phone looked like a chick from the waist down wearing knee high socks.

It's been around a year since a lot of us quit Reddit, myself included. I'm happy with Lemmy, but I still feel a bit lost online since leaving the old site. Discussion?

Been thinking of making a post like this for some time, apologies if some of this is not completely relevant: this community seems more like it's about Reddit the platform/product than Reddit the social "thing", but I'm sure a lot of people have similar experiences to mine. Maybe on some instances more than others....

ColeSloth ,

Lemmy is pretty much exactly the same as reddit, but without so much advertising and a much smaller user base.

Some people get pissed about that being said, but most users know it's true. There are still overzealous mods and instances pushing and controlling agendas. As it gets more popular, more ai bots will start spamming stuff. In the meantime, it's not bad. I've almost completely stopped using reddit after about 16 years. I still hop over if I need or want certain bits of information. It's easier to get info/advice from 100,000 subscribers than it is from 100.

For the most part though, I'm happy with lemmy and have no plans of returning to reddit. It is kind of a dumpster fire over there.

ColeSloth ,

I think the chodes that own like 20+ pew pews are all far right. But you can't use 20 at a time, so I guess that won't help much. I'd put hard money on odds of much more citizens who've actually shot someone before as being non-republicans.

ColeSloth ,

Good. The US can make e bikes. The problem is that the tariffs need to be solidified in place for a minimum of 10 years or manufacturers won't invest in the infrastructure to make them. If the tariffs seem likely to go away soon, no one will bother doing it on a large scale. All the Chinese made batteries are garbage, anyhow. There's only a handful of actual quality small lithium batteries and they're samsung, panasonic, Westinghouse, and miel. The ones from china horribly lie about capacity and start failing way too soon. There's a reason all the power tool batteries inside Dewalt and makita and such never use Chinese batts inside. Same for all the high end cordless vacuums. You open up a dyson battery pack, you'll never find chinesium.

ColeSloth ,

Yeah....there's actually a bunch of e bike companies that are US based that do all the design and spec work in the US and are built at various places overseas. EBC builds em in the US, using mostly overseas parts. As far as "design generations" go the US is one of the global leaders. Juiced and Rad Power have both been making e bikes for 15 years, bucko.

ColeSloth ,

Disagree. If you're half assing the job you're supposed to be doing because it's easier on you, you don't deserve a pass. Especially when it's negatively effecting other people like this does.

Also, generally, screw HR. They exist just to protect the rich they work for and they'll have you fired in an instant if it means helping out the company in any way.

ColeSloth ,

So is the violence part. Hitler wasn't defeated with a sit in. The elite chose violence back in the 1950's to destroy unions. Corrupt governments were never overthrown by asking nicely. The term "speak softly, but carry a big stick" wasn't made up for no reason.

ColeSloth ,

I tend to just care about security updates at this point. There isn't any new features I want, anymore. I'm either using it as a phone, sending messages, or in an apk. The OS version is of little consequence.

ColeSloth ,

I have no idea. Plus, with a brand new company, you can't even be sure they'll be around in a few years to follow through with any such promises.

ColeSloth ,

Well I'll be. I have the same board and the same 1600x right now. Also built around 2016 or so, if memory serves.

Not a big fan of the board, I gotta say. It's given me lots of trouble by being finicky with the ram. Had to add a touch of voltage, loosen the timing a hair, and run it around 100mhz slower than the ram was rated for stability. Lotta hours to diagnose and verify it wasn't one of my 4 ram sticks that was faulty, since it could go a week without crashing and running memtest stuff would normally take 12+ hours to show any errors at all.

Always a good idea to check what bios version a board requires for what processor you plan on sticking in it, and to look through all bios update notes for required updates to move up to other updates and sometimes there's stopping points, like "for 1600x, stop here, or don't update beyond"

ColeSloth ,

Personally, I suspect voltage inconsistencies going to the ram ports, that change a bit depending on how many sticks you're using.
