It was Cedar Waxwing heaven with the cherries in abundance on the Sargent Cherry trees in Guelph Ontario Canada. The Waxwings were eating them like they were candy and gulping them down like someone was going to take it from them!

Attentive Observer is a hand-painted watercolor painting painted in portrait format by the artist Karen Kaspar. A European Robin sits on a branch in a tree, surrounded by fresh green leaves. The songbird looks intently towards the viewer. The orange-red breast feathers shine from the abstract background in shades of blue and green and form the focus of the image. Robins are welcome guests in our garden and delight us with their melodic singing. They are always an inspiration for me for new paintings.

    Hi

    I’m Loren. I live in Illinois, USA and I like taking pictures of birds and other things in nature like bugs and turtles and muskrats and mushrooms and moss and frogs and flowers and opossums.

    I use a Canon R7 with a 100-400mm lens for most of my pictures and occasionally a 100mm or 35mm for macro. I don’t like doing most dramatic edits and don’t digitally remove branches or “clutter” from my pictures.
