Along a canal in Florida a tiny Sandhill Crane chick explores with its attentive parents. Surprisingly its parents let it approach rather closely. I kept it at a distance becaue I was not comfortable with this little one being that interested in humans. What a joy to watch and photograph though. Zoom in to see the detail.
☠️ 🐝 Sugar beet farmers have the green light to use a banned pesticide deadly to #bees following a forecast that a #virus could sweep through their crops
#RichardBenwell, the CEO of #Wildlife and #Countryside Link, said: "To have FOUR emergency authorisations in a row makes a mockery of the ban, and now the trigger has been reached, nature will once again have to endure exposure to this harmful chemical" ⏩
Only five other #zoos in #Europe keep the species - and just one has managed to breed them in the past 12 months, according to the park's reptile keepers
The brightly-coloured amphibians are known for their unique calls
Blue-Wing #Teal#Ducks feed by diving and nibbling along the bottom of the water for vegetation and small insects and mollusks.
In this #photograph, one teal has its head underwater, feeding. The other has just finished and is swimming on the water’s surface at the Merritt Island National #Wildlife Refuge.
I mentioned this past week that we may have two active eagle nests this year. I've known about one nest for three years now but last year on the trail people kept telling me about another location. I finally found it👇 and plan on monitoring both this year as much as I can to be on the lookout for chicks. Typically, I see eagles around the nest when the nest is being used so this pic is a good omen👍.

A Strix nebulosa I saw in Grand Teton National Park a few years back. Great grey owls are one of the most amazing creatures. Their ability to hover, hear prey under lots of snow, and dive up to a foot into the snow to catch prey is amazing!
I took a 6 am trip to store to get coffee, and when I got home, this entire family of deer was grazing in the front yard. By the time I got my camera aimed, they'd made for the road. #photography#wildlife
