A Eurasian griffon vulture, a bird that nests in Ukraine only in the Crimea, flew to the nest of Kyiv storks. Such long journeys are very rare. The video shows that the storks were not happy with the intruder and drove him out of their nest :)
I edited the original video from Instagram, turning it into a full 1080p video.
This rock pipit flew up onto this rock a few times to drink from a little pool fed by the water running down the wall above it. Then it would be off again, searching under large stones or along the wildflower cliffs above
A visitor from Crimea was spotted in the stork's nest, and it turned out to be a Eurasian griffon vulture. In Ukraine, these birds nest exclusively in Crimea and only occasionally they fly to other southern and western regions of Ukraine.
The irony - managed to take this snap of a tiny silvereye perched momentarily on one of my backyard plants. It was part of a flock of at least 20 that fly in briefly each morning never standing still for more that a second. The irony is that I'd just returned from a trip in far north Australia & found more opportunities for snapping birdlife in my backyard than out in the bush.😜 😆 😎 #travel#photography#birds#nature#australia#melbourne#humor#humour
Excited to add a tiny lifer to my list today. Took about an hour of following this Alder Flycatcher’s freeBEER call to finally get eyes on it, a rare empid in our area.
Arctic tern joined us for a hike called kjærlighetshaugen (translates to something like “the love pile”) :blobfoxheartcute:
These fierce terns breed around the arctic, and at the end of breeding season migrate all the way to the Antarctic, having the longest migration distance amongst birds.
