Part of my series of terms of venery (collective nouns for animals) I always liked “a nest of rabbits” because it makes me think of eggs 🪺 and Easter but of course, rabbits 🐇 do make nests.

My 11” x 14” linocut reads “A nest of RABBITS” in black ink with a brown nest filled with sleeping bunnies in the middle. The typography I designed so the words represents their meaning; "nest" mimics the shape of a bird's nest with egg-like 'e' and 's'; the word "rabbits" is made of rabbit-shaped letters and a nose-and-whisker 'T'.

    Image of a cottontail rabbit sitting in a small field of short, green grass or lawn. The rabbit is facing the camera with its head turned left and down. The rabbit has raised its right rear foot to touch its down-turned muzzle giving the impression that it is smelling its rear foot. Cotton-tail rabbits have brown fur with white mottling and a white, cotton-ball-like tail. Cottontails have typical rodent features (large, whiskered muzzles, large eyes, larger back feet, etc.) with the exception of their ears which are proportionally larger/longer than other rodents.
