Non mi stupisce, per anni si è stati convinti che i #social siano gratis e molti lo hanno creduto. Però i social hanno bisogno di server costosi e serve molto tempo per gestirli.
Alla fine tutte le difficoltà sono venute a galle e il colpo di grazia lo hanno dato i recenti attacchi hacker che hanno colpito duramente #mastodon.

Corruption is a system of concentrated gains and diffused costs: cheaters make a lot of money, and their victims each lose a little. The cheater has a much larger pool of money to spend on keeping the scam going, and the victims need to pay again to fight the cheater.
