Gotta love when people complain about getting banned/silenced from instances they don't own...

PSA: Fedi is not your free speech platform. Nobody owes you a platform to spout whatever the fuck you want. Matter of fact, any admin/moderator on Fedi can ban/silence you for whatever damn reason they please.

When you make your own instance and pay for it yourself, then you can have your own platform, but that won't stop other admins from yeeting you out of their instance...🙄

@BeAware I think it's fair if someone doesn't want to or doesn't have the skills to host their own.

But wherever we go, whoever we interact with, it's always governed by social contracts and expectations of behavior. Gotta deal with it, always had to.

Here at least you CAN do your own thing and set your own rules.

    This question was posed tonight in my session. While I'm open to the concept in my homebrew, looking at for example base where we got Half-Orcs, Half-Elves and Half...-lings(?), I found the question very interesting and wanted to ask the wider community.

    @Ashyr As far as I understood it, it was mainly about those couples that would like to have children but cannot due to cross species issues - if such limits so exist.

    Min/max focused players engaging with campaigns where the Bard single-handedly wins a fight by convincing all enemies to just leave by role playing an adorable bunny with very fluffy ears; before their ultra fine tuned theory crafted mega build even gets their turn.

    yeah, my annoyance mostly comes with "why is this game currently offline?" and then it's discord for the best info. It isn't even just games, other services as well.

    Another thing that irks me is that these companies are relying on third party software and systems to provide this "service" of communication. All kinda messed up.

    Luckily most companies are fairly decent with putting or at least linking patchnotes on steam.

    Had a really good session

    One of my favorite things as a , that I recently started:

    One of the players wanted info about an NPC. I have every other player whisper me one rumor and one truth about that NPC. I randomized the list and added my own. Then the first player rolled a D6 twice to "pick" from the rumors and truths. They don't know if it's a rumor or truth, just what their character "knows". Everyone is involved in world building and the ideas are usually super great

    Calling the traditional GM role in TTRPGs a job, with some amount of work involved, is true.

    It is, however, a troubled statement, because modern jobs and work are largely so incredibly dogshit that the association is bad, and the statement often conjures up entirely the wrong image.

    Maybe we just need to reclaim the term job and work. There's plenty of things I enjoy about my actual job, but I'd drop it immediately if I could make the same amount of money with DM/GMing in ttrpgs or creating stuff around it.

    However, I also know there's stuff I absolutely would hate doing a lot of, even with doing something so objectively creative and much more fun than most common jobs.

    I'm watching this video by Folding ideas on why it's rude to suck at #wow

    Very insightful and something that really turned me off from the game. I used to be a Raid Main Tank and loved tanking when the game was new-ish. But the greater expectations of perfection and optimization even in random dungeons has fully killed my interest in it.

    @jeze3D @BeAware that's pretty much it and it is one of the very few MMOs that has a feeling of physicality to the world. Your character and mounts feel connected to the ground and have weight, other MMOs often give that feeling of sliding around or the ground moving beneath you. Plus the flight system of dragonflight was nearly 1:1 copied fr GW2.

    It really is the beat option out there.

    Aye, it sure is! Did I mention there's full underwater combat with specific underwater mounts, gear and even pets for classes that have them?

    Not to mention there are no quests in the same sense as in other MMOs. You walk up somewhere do a thing and others do it alongside you. You needn't group, you needn't even know anyone. Everyone collaborates all the time by design.

    is like a campaign in many ways, or at least a good hint at how you might want to structure one as a .

    Individual characters with different strengths and weaknesses, all pushed together by chance and looking to fulfill their own goals, some of which align.

    Episodes sometimes put one character in the spotlight with their backstory and resolve some stuff about them. Then the next character and so on and so forth.

    @meganpsyd I've been taking great inspiration from current events.

    Simply bake your own Donald Trump.

    Take any fact in your world. Create a faction that follows a charismatic leader that staunchly opposes that fact and calls those know that fact to be fact every bad thing under the sun.

    They cannot be convinced or cowed into changing their mind.

    Their goal is convincing everyone else of "their truth" as a means to gain power by replacing all those in power that oppose their view.

    I adopted PenBucket for UI design today, trying to move away from Adobe XD.

    FOSS whereever I can going forward. Best to never even get started on other systems so moving won't be such a painful process.
