This is very risky though, I wouldn't recommend doing this without some training and research.

What song should I play for my bathroom neighbors?

The work bathroom is currently a warzone, on their phone speakers people like to play music, play games at full blast, and one guy likes to chill to ambient rainforest. What song can I play to passive aggressively make it known that I don't want to listen to their tik tok feeds while I work out my demons?

Why Ukraine Should Keep Striking Russian Oil Refineries ( www.foreignaffairs.com )

Washington’s criticism is misplaced: attacks on oil refineries will not have the effect on global energy markets that U.S. officials fear. These strikes reduce Russia’s ability to turn its oil into usable products; they do not affect the volume of oil it can extract or export. In fact, with less domestic refining...

It's a bit more complex than that. Just because the US is a net exporter doesn't mean that it doesn't still need to import. There are several types of oil and currently the US still needs foreign imports of certain types that we rely on but don't produce enough of.

That being said, I still think it makes sense to destroy infrastructure supporting the Russian invasion.

As a bonus it's much healthier. Win win.
Though a large portion of the population won't see it that way.

That's one of the first things id look for in a disaster scenario.

I find that LLM powered autocomplete when programming makes me more productive.

Occasionally I'll use a chatbot to help me reword an email or other text, though this is rare.

I feel like adding a carbon tax to meat could be more effective than us just telling people to eat differently.

At this point, those that aren't already switched to plant based diets need a carrot or stick.

That being said, adding a meat tax would be insanely hard to pass in the US

Who do you have in mind?

pineapple_pizza ,

Yeah sure, just curious what names people have in mind.
If none that's fine

On Android you need to opt in to notifications for every app you install.
Just opt out :)

Or, be like me and keep your phone on do not disturb(except calls from contacts). Doing this was one of the most significant quality of life improvements for me over the last few years.

Tell everyone you know in Michigan to vote. The rest of us barely matter

Id be surprised if there wasn't basic encryption to prevent a man in the middle attack like you described.

In the article the talk about needing to install certs to read encrypted traffic from the app.

I unfortunately found myself listening to the Joe Rogan podcast with Aaron recently. He has some pretty interesting takes... I thought he was just weird about the vaccine but he has many more "opinions."

Apparently at the Chicago world's fair the building roofs were able to generate unlimited energy but big energy companies suppressed the info lol.
NGL at some point it was so ridiculous that it was actually kinda entertaining. Even Joe fact checked him a couple times lol.

Most regular skiers are generally pretty climate conscious. Like other outdoorsy sports.

pineapple_pizza ,

They're even more aware, because, as you said, it's impacting their bank accounts. For example, Aspen has been quite public about climate change for a while https://aspen.gov/518/Climate-Action

I'm not sure what you're getting at. The ski industry isn't powerful enough to just fix climate change whenever it wants to. There are much more powerful forces at work.

Only 2k votes?! Seems pretty low for a city the size of DC

Trump is disqualified from Illinois ballot, judge rules ( www.reuters.com )

An Illinois state judge on Wednesday barred Donald Trump from appearing on the Illinois' Republican presidential primary ballot because of his role in the attack at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but she delayed her ruling from taking effect in light of an expected appeal by the former U.S president.

Still doesn't matter, Illinois is pretty solidly blue so a Republican wouldn't win those electoral votes in the general either way

Sublinks Aims to Be a Drop-In Replacement for Lemmy ( wedistribute.org )

Seems like an interesting effort. A developer is building an alternative Java-based backend to Lemmy's Rust-based one, with the goal of building in a handful of different features. The dev is looking at using this compatibility to migrate their instance over to the new platform, while allowing the community to use their apps of...

So does California and many other states with state income tax?
Is there evidence of a correlation between state income tax and unhoused people?
