@BeAware @countcol unfortunately she's a perfect example of someone who suffered past traumas refuse to deal with them and face them head-on which has ensured that once she did gain power she wielded that power for hate not for good...

@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@BeAware @countcol bahahahaha, I don't blame you, the absolute shit show she has reigned down on the trans community is biblical & completely unacceptable, I can't stand her, but I am always interested in where these toxic and appalling opinions and mindsets come from & hers is built on an absolute anger and distrust of men from past experiences.

is too stupid to realize that NOT voting for is a vote FOR , and that her boycott of could be her last — She might not get another opportunity to vote EVER.

@benroyce @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta I assume there is a moral argument to be made that the best thing for humanity the planet the environment & the future is to push us down a dark awful route that brings about a global collapse sooner rather than later as in the long run things will improve faster from the ashes of our old/archaic "civilisation". But this would very much wander into the "the ends justify the means" sociopathic worldview. But both seem like two cheeks of the same arse.

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@benroyce @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta these people have always existed, in one form or another, it's just now they can be organised & managed on a global scale & paid for their troubles. They don't really concern me. What actually concerns me is apathy, that is the fastest path to either global collapse or global fascism (both paths look virtually the same) but we are bound by a universal structure that poisons everything, which is the bastardised version of capitalism we all participate in.

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rameshgupta @benroyce @nicholas_saunders choosing to not vote is the same as choosing to not join in with capitalism, it makes you feel morally superior but actually does nothing to improve the situation whatsoever, working to improve those systems that have been forced on us is more likely to encourage more people to join you, well thought out changes are easy to get support for as long as they are promoted as a positive, not an "anti", people get put off by extreme people shouting at them...

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rameshgupta @benroyce @nicholas_saunders there is a reason that "never let the perfect be the enemy of the good" is the truest way to live your life & the best way to bring people with you in real numbers...

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @benroyce the UK (just as the US) has heard the structure of their own democracy creek & groan under the pressures applied to it over the last 16/17 years & though it has sprung a few leaks (on both sides of the Atlantic) it has held pretty strong & there is only so long that people can deny reality before it kicks down your door & slaps you around the face with a gigantic haddock, as is the nature of observable reality...

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@philip_cardella @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @benroyce we had Oswald Mosley in the UK, plus some pretty prominent members of the royal family...😬

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@philip_cardella @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @benroyce the people that go willingly are nationalists who enjoy feeling empowered from their deliberately prescribed position of weakness. Just like football, cheering the success without the need to be involved beyond cheering them on from the sidelines, but still feeling the glory of the win, whilst living a life of hidden misunderstood loss that is beyond their control, imperceptible to everyone but still holding palpable power over them.

Half of Amazon warehouse workers struggle with food and housing costs.

A third of the workers have had to rely on at least one government assistance program.

Amazon's stock hit an all time high in April. Jeff Bezos is now worth $203 billion.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rbreich corporate welfare is out of control, the only reason Musk has as much monas he does is because the US government gave him billions of dollars to multiple companies that he owns & we got nothing in return...

Apple shares lost 10% of their value.

Then Apple announced plans to buy back $110 billion of its own stock.

After that, Apple shares had their best day since 2022.

There's a reason stock buybacks used to be considered illegal stock manipulations.

They should still be banned.

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rbreich this is why nobody should ever listen when they have those stories on the news saying that the stock market is rallying or in a bull run or having the greatest period of growth in decades because it doesn't mean shit for anybody else on the ground only people who earn their wealth off other people's hard work & poverty wages...

Everyone knew about Harvey Weinstein. Everyone knew about R. Kelly, Bill Cosby, and Jeffrey Epstein. Everyone knew about the Catholic priests. Everyone knew about Donald Trump. I’m so tired of people protecting rich perverts, keeping their dark secrets for decades. So damn tired.

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@Strandjunker I had to run a vile sex offender out of my friends group after pointing out what kind of person he was and a lot of the women in that group say he made them feel uncomfortable, but when he overstep the mark I had to make a threat on his life to scare him off for good, my friends never understood why I had to act in such a way, 12 months later he was divorced from my friend who was married to him for trying to assault her daughter, we don't talk about him anymore...

Clarence Thomas hearing Trump's immunity case, when his wife Ginni was directly involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election, tells you everything you need to know about the Supreme Court's new code of "ethics."

It's a sham.

Vonskinnback ,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rbreich but if trump gets immunity then Biden gets immediate immunity to do as he pleases, no matter what it is..

Unpopular Sunak in ‘doom loop’ as PM stares at election defeat

> He’s failed to meet key pledges, hit an opinion poll low, and even cramped the style of a popular Adidas shoe: Britain’s beleaguered Conservative leader appears destined to lose a looming general election.

@raymondpert I would like to say that the Tories have done enough damage to ensure that they never get into power again, but people said that in the 90's, but the moment people started feeling better off & more successful with the support & help our society deserves provided by the labour party they decided to get vile & greedy by voting Tory to protect their wealth, but just like in the 80's, all the Tories did was steal all of the money, destroy the country & blame it on the poor & immigration

We really need to stop buying into the argument that are "radical" or "destructive". The opposite is true: the nature of the protests have been peaceful and, on the whole, pretty tame.

The idea that, say, sitting on a road is "radical", "extreme" and "criminal" came from a bunch of aligned think tanks, parroted by the media.
Reject them.

The framing needs to be: Fossil fuel companies are radical, extreme, criminal.

@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@CelloMomOnCars yep, met my fair share of people who believe sitting in the road is a terror attack on our civil liberties, can't wait to find out what they think about the local river running through their front room...
