“ISRAEL LOBBY FUNDED A QUARTER OF BRITISH MPS: Exclusive: Declassified is publishing the full list of British MPs who received funding from pro-Israel lobbyists.”
“Some 180 of Britain’s 650 MPs in the last parliament accepted funding from pro-Israel lobby groups or individuals during their political career, Declassified can reveal.
That includes 130 Conservative MPs, 41 Labour MPs and three Liberal Democrats.
Three members of the DUP, two independents and Reform’s only MP complete the list.
The total value of the donations from pro-Israel groups, individuals, and Israeli state institutions amounts to over one million pounds.”
GMP said it came to the decision after a "thorough, carefully considered & proportionate investigation".
"The investigation originated from complaints made by #Tory MP James Daly. Matters involving council & personal tax do not fall into the jurisdiction of policing."
Opinion: This being the case, why waste public money & police time on a spurious, political complaint
Keir Starmer appears to think this is a get out of jail free card, on accusations of backtracking on previous promises:
'with the damage that’s been done to the economy, particularly by Liz Truss, it is not possible to do that'!
While he may well be right that things have been made so much worse in the last three years that earlier promises have been undermined.... for many, its a series of shifts that have suggested he wasn't serious in the first place.
#Starmer knows the publications you spoke of have the knives out for him & #Labour. In this respect you have to skillfully negotiate your way through the #Tories client media minefield. Once in power, different rules apply!
However, as seen in the Fail 2 days ago, they gave Reeves the front page, because even they want to be seen on the side of the winner. Labour have decided not to interrupt their enemy, whilst they're busy making mistakes, & it's working.
@AnthonyFStevens@Colman@ChrisMayLA6 Nah, I think the #Tories will keep on going further and further to the right for at least the next few years, until they decide they'd rather be in power again and start aiming for where most of the voters are - roughly in the centre (unless Labour screw up before then and the government collapses).
The one nation #Tories led by David Gauke have been quietly biding their time, which was outlined in the book 'The Case for the Centre Right'.
They're the largest group in the #CONservative party, & have already given notice that they intend to wrestle control back from the Far right ERG loons, who took over the asylum.
As Michael Gove joins the nearly quarter of Tory MPs standing down at the election, the joke that 'would the last person leaving the Tory party please turn off the lights' seems to be ever more apposite.
For many Gove's departure will be welcome, but it also reinforces the notion that the post-election Tory party may be very different from its most recent manifestation.
The Q. will be, will they swing further to the right, shift to the 'centre', of collapse into fragments?
There are voters out there switching from #Tories to Green Party…we’ve seen that happen at a county level in Norfolk.
#Sunak has taken his rural, nature loving older core vote for granted and they are disgusted at the state of our rivers and fearful of what may come for their children with #ClimateBreakdown.
The writing is on the wall for Tories and they won’t vote Labour.
I heard #Hunt on Times Radio just a couple of weeks ago promising compensation would be paid out soon to victims of the infected blood scandal.
If the proverbial fails to deliver on this promise this side of an election will it cost the #Tories even more lost votes? That is what the bean counters in the Treasury are basing their decision on this weekend.
The 'leak' of the new schools policy on 'sex education' is actually even more insidious than you think.
Saying that "nine year olds" are being fed 'inappropriate' content - that was waved through by the Tories btw - they want you to go and defend it, to protect the LGBTQ+ related content, so they can then 'prove' you're a 'groomer'.
Another Tory MP - Natalie Elphicke - has 'crossed the house' to join the Labour Party briefly.... she is not standing at the next election.
So, one has to ask; what are her motives.
Given the criticisms she made of Sunak could have largely been made of his predecessors & of the party policy for much of the time she's been an MP, we must conclude something else is in play...
Perhaps, she's hoping that there will be rewards after an election.... but I wonder what she wants?
📊 Here's two observations about the local #elections results:
The results have been pretty dismal for the Conservatives, with some limited exceptions, pointing the way to a #Labour victory at the general #election
Speaking to #Conservative MPs, advisers and officials, any threat to #RishiSunak's leadership appears to be fading fast
To some, that's a paradox. The results so far indicate that the #Tories are heading for defeat under Mr #Sunak's leadership
Tomorrow morning the Home Office starts to round up the migrants they expect to try to send to Rwanda... I saw round up, but actually they're expecting to pick up (some of) their victims when they attend regular/scheduled meetings with officials.
These currently 'free' migrants will then be detained ahead of flights to Rwanda.
(again) if the money spent on this viscous & inhumane policy was spent on integrating migrants into British society, it would be much more cost effective!
@ChrisMayLA6 I really hope this all backfires and the #Tories get an absolute hammering in the polls on Thursday. Wonder if the gammons they are trying to impress either don't bother voting or forget they need ID.
To be clear, I don't blame the nurses & doctors in A&E who are encountering budget & capacity pressures that would make it difficult for anyone to do a good job.
As length of waiting times in A&E grow, so do deaths while waiting to be seen; but this is part of the crisis engineered by the Tories, not a managerial or staff training issue (which is not to say these have no impact).
@ChrisMayLA6
There's nothing wrong with the #NHS that undoing 15 years of #Tory#austerity won't fix. Just look at wait time and satisfaction data from 2009.
It's not the NHS model that's the problem, it's the #Tories
@rbreich but he won't, nor will any other liberal. Just throw a dart at western liberal parties. Each one burries their heads in the sand and hopes they can just wait out Palestine, like their existence is a quiet annoyance.
This means not only the US #liberal parties, which includes socially #conservative liberals (i.e the #republicans), but also the #tories, #labour, as well as #høyre and AP in Norway, and the ruling liberal parties you got in Germany.
It's weird to move to the UK at a time when every single thing seems to be collapsing. NHS, water systems, road repair, poverty increase, corruption...
And there's no system in place for demanding an election to change leadership! Everyone just has to put up with it!
