TwiddleTwaddle OP ,

That makes total sense from a corporate perspective. Maybe I would just love to be the one the pushes us a little bit closer to the enduser having control of their data and hardware. Its probably a pipe dream though lol.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

I'm planning on getting some recertified Seagate Ironwolfs from SeverPartDeals very soon

TwiddleTwaddle ,

An enlightened centrist I see. Gtfo. Your slurs and trolling aren't welcome here.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

They don't have to be "literally the same" for controlled opposition to prevent meaningful change.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

We agree on that. I don't, however, expect the US democratic party to represent me and my interests. They represent the ruling class just like nearly every major political party around the world. Electoral politics isn't going to change that.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

Do you think it's some kind of gachya that I believe organizing workforces, community activism, and direct action will do more good for people than simply voting once every couple of years? Did I indicate to you at any point that people shouldn't vote for the less fascist party/candidates? The point is not "Don't vote", it's "Meaningful political change will never come if voting is people's only method for enacting said change."

TwiddleTwaddle ,

Ahh. My miskate, apologies for misunderstanding you!

Edit: and extra apologies for my confrontational tone at your, in retrospect, very benign comment.

Have a great day!

TwiddleTwaddle ,

Edited my kernal parameters to prevent my CPU from going into a low power state that had been causing crashes for years apparently.

Edit: if you use 1st gen ryzen and have been putting up with intermittent crashes thinking it was your shitty old used GPU like me, try disabling c-state 6.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

Why would you not be able to access the filesystem of a device you own and are in possession of? Is this some kind of walled-garden thing I'm too Apple-free to understand?

Biden Administration Tightens Mileage Standards to Buoy E.V.s | The new rule requires automakers to achieve an average of 65 miles per gallon across all models by 2031. ( www.nytimes.com )

The new standards require American automakers to increase fuel economy so that, across their product lines, their passenger vehicles would average 65 miles per gallon by 2031, up from 48.7 miles today. The average mileage for light trucks, including pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, would have to reach 45 miles per...

TwiddleTwaddle ,

It's also supposed to make up for lost tax revenue on fuel, which would (theoretically) go to road maintenance.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

I see this type of thing so often it's insane.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

It's not just about the content posted by individuals though. The community and relationships built on a centralized platform are also at risk to a much greater degree than they would be on federated social media.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

My local library system does 10 pages free per day.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

The argument could be made, yes. Until DFV had this level of celebrity he was just a guy doing live streams about his wild investment ideas. That's totally legal, but I'd bet he's wading through murkier waters now though.

TwiddleTwaddle ,

What if I've never built a headless system and am afraid of not having easy access to a GUI?

TwiddleTwaddle , (edited )

How would you get through the install though? Are there any simple solutions without any graphics output?

Mastodon is easily the largest decentralized social network. Idk what you're on about.

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

I've actually seen this one before when looking for character art for a druid character haha

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

You think so? Because I've seen a ton of liberals all over Lemmy (and other social media) jumping to defend Biden for enabling genocide, and specifically blaming any critisizm of the Dems from the left on Russian propaganda. In communities that -by every right- ought to be leftist spaces too.

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

To be fair, I've seen the worst of it in !politicalmemes so I wouldn't blame you for not spending time there.

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

Did you not notice that this is an explicitly leftist community? If you think liberals are included in that, you may need a reality check.

    What radicalized you?

Assuming you're an anarchist or otherwise leftist radical, what radicalized your position?

For me it was a combination of seeing the rampart corruption of the Greek state and the sloth and hypocrisy of the KKE in my own family. Then afterwards it was the alienation of my own wage-slavery.

Remember to care for your opsec when answering.

Pretty sure she'd hate it, but me too hahaha

Has anyone done a deep dive to know for sure that it isn't full of spyware and bloat? I'm weary of anything I can't flash a new OS to. Or maybe they can be loaded up with a different community maintained OS?

Texas sabotaging public education again? Color me shocked. No doubt the lower test scores will be used to justify privatizing more schools.

Also 3000 exam responses is luaghably low to train an LLM. These tests are for every 3rd-8th grader. That's less responses than you'd get from a single mid sized school - expected to train an LLM how to grade probably millions of answers across the entire state.

They claim its not an LLM because it doesn't learn as it goes. I'm fairly certain that's been the common implementation since we learned from the older generation of chatbots all turning to Nazis after being trolled by 4chan.

This guy really thinks watch parties and listening to music with friends over is illegal or unethical or some shit.

That link just takes me to a kbin login page.

Have you ever encountered a joke edit of a movie while sailing the high seas?

I have been thinking about the Cerveza Crista edit of Star Wars: A New Hope that sporadically splices in beer ads and the Toy Story 3 edit alternate ending where they fall into the incinerator and it made me wonder if people have come across these kind of joke versions, in full, in the wild....

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

Love everything from Brad Neely but haven't been able to find this since reading about it several months ago. Thanks for reminding me I'll have another look.

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

We love to see bigots on a trans-masc persons social media page affirming that they've never been a woman and are obviously a man for x, y, and z reasons.

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

In my state at least if a third party receives at least 5% of the vote they'll get significantly more funding in the next election cycle. Pretty sure that's true across the US.

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

People have been telling them that for months.

Deadly morel mushroom outbreak highlights big gaps in fungi knowledge ( arstechnica.com )

On Thursday, Montana health officials published an outbreak analysis of poisonings linked to the honeycombed fungi in March and April of last year. The outbreak sickened 51 people who ate at the same restaurant, sending four to the emergency department. Three were hospitalized and two died. Though the health officials didn't...

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

I would still consider cubes poisonous. Although it won't kill anyone haha.

Wow small world! I read The Lazy Dungeon Master in like 2019 and loved it!

    TwiddleTwaddle ,

Never heard of gnu taler. Looks very promising.
