I use a group policy edit. I'm away from my Windows PC right now, but iirc it's under "Administrative templates" and "Windows components."

It's the only way I had any luck stopping the annoying automatic updates. Reg edits never seemed to stick for me.

Wouldn't put it past Microsoft to have some way to bypass it anyway. What led me to find this fix in the first place is that Windows restarted when I locked my computer, even though I had it set not to restart while in use (I had cookie clicker running while it was locked and lost my progress).

Yes, last I checked, one of their prime hate forums r/KotakuInAction was still active, and still filled with the most pathetic little insects seething about the fact that women and minorities exist in media. Gamergate has never really ended. Most people just stopped paying attention to these fools.

Unfortunately, that's easy for me to say, since I'm not on the receiving end of their doxxing and death threats.

I haven't had the best life, but I just can't fathom being such a total loser that I'd ever get that worked up over something like video games.

Oh I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. My instance actually disables downvotes, so I can't see that, but there are a lot of reddit transplants here (I'm one of them), and reddit's takes on things like feminism and women are overall not ... good.

This actually explains some problems I've been having, and I'm thankful there's a fix. I actually disabled 2fa for a while because I was sick of having to retrieve a code each time I was forced to log back in.

It's basically a document stating what Republicans have always wanted, with Democrats showing no sign in my lifetime of stopping it. I have zero faith that a party that's OK with blowing the heads off babies and deporting families will offer any resistance whatsoever to anything in that document. Moreover, they never have.

It was offensive even way before that. I remember us not serving a customer at the fast food place where I worked because he used it around my co-worker whose brother had Downs Syndrome.

I've never really associated with people who use that word.

Lemmy seems to be pretty good about not using it, though. Reddit, on the other hand...

Edit: After reading this thread, I take it back. There are some straight up disgusting people in this community who really, really want to use the r-slur.

Every time I've reported it on lemmy, I've seen it removed by mods, but I guess there are a lot of communities here I just don't visit.

Reddit had a very popular sub with the r-slur in its name, and I saw it a lot on CTH (don't ask me why I ever visited that sub -- I ask myself, and I have no answer lol).

And yeah, Rosa's Law was 2010, but even dating back to the 70s people were abandoning its use. I recall my brother having to write an essay about people with disabilities when he used it in school in the 90s (not that I approve of using writing as a punishment).
