👻 Question about ghost(.org) 👻

I'm trying to get a new web site up and running with ghost, but I'm wondering if it's really designed for selling products, like the way Gumroad is, for example. I was attracted to ghost because of its built-in mailing list and blogging capabilities (and because it's open source), and I thought adding a "commerce element" for...

You're right! I didn't even think of that. However, I'm not sure that it will integrate in exactly the way I want . . . 🤔

Hi @averyminya, I see the section you mentioned on the ghost web page, but I can't seem to find the video.

I have the option to see hidden files using Material Files (won't let you look inside Android folder tho); if you need something more heavy duty there's Ghost Commander. Both are available on F-Droid. There's also Files from GrapheneOS, which might be available on the Play Store, but not sure about that one.

From Wikipedia: The Ludwig von Mises Institute for Austrian Economics, or Mises Institute, is a nonprofit think tank headquartered in Auburn, Alabama, that is a center for Austrian economics, radical right-wing libertarian thought and the paleolibertarian and anarcho-capitalist movements in the United States. It is named after the economist Ludwig von Mises (1881–1973) and promotes his version of heterodox Misesian Austrian economics.

I keep trying to post this to World News on BH but it then it ends up on lemmy.ml instead!

Well, they spoke with the EFF which made Privacy Badger, so maybe that's why. They did the password thing with the dice, tho, which I guess is good.

That's good to know, thanks!

Does a VPN used on a smartphone with Wi-Fi disabled (mobile data only enabled) provide any sort of protection?

I've never completely understood this, but I think the answer would probably be "no," although I'm not sure. Usually when I leave the house I turn off wifi and just use mobile data (this is a habit from my pre-VPN days), although I guess I should probably just keep it on since using strange Wi-Fi with a VPN is ok (unless someone...

Before answering your first question (I'm actually not sure how to answer! I'll have to think about it 🤔)--my laptop has wifi, which transmits and receives radio waves to/from my router; my router is connected to a cable (broadband cable? I guess? Not DSL at any rate), which is connected to the internet (and there's also a MODEM in there somewhere too). My laptop doesn't have the ability to connect by mobile data which uses, I guess?, cell phone towers, but my smartphone can use both. So they're two different systems is I guess what I'm getting at, and I was never clear on how or if a VPN provided any sort of basic privacy if it was only using cell towers. This is a potentially really dumb question (the head injury doesn't help 🤕), but remember, William Gibson used to think that computers were powered by these gleaming magical crystals (or so he claims), before he looked inside one and discovered that it was basically just a floppy plastic record spinning around really fast.

Can you make a flowchart (or maybe there is one already) that shows what platforms can interact with others and how? Sort of kidding, but maybe not. I really like the idea of the Fediverse, but it does seem to have a bit of an "apples and oranges" problem with the different platforms. Hopefully an issue that's being worked on.

Because far too many US Dems are cowards who live in fear of the conservative news media who will claim, no matter what they do, that they are "soft on crime."

Thanks! I only wish I could use "Bypass Paywalls Clean" on Mull; even if I enable the Iceraven addons it just gives me "Bypass Paywalls for Firefox" which isn't as effective.

EDIT: I was also slightly alarmed recently to discover how many cookies Fennec was retaining; I'd like to be able to keep the one for BH so I don't have to log in every time, and maybe a few others, but not if I have to keep all of them.

Can Biden win without the youth vote? Does he even want to win?

Some US officials say in internal memo Israel may be violating international law in Gaza ( www.reuters.com )

Some senior U.S. officials have advised Secretary of State Antony Blinken that they do not find "credible or reliable" Israel's assurances that it is using U.S.-supplied weapons in accordance with international humanitarian law, according to an internal State Department memo....

Didn't read yet (but will) . . . "may" be violating international law?! Bold statement indeed.

EDIT: Biden has basically forced me to not vote for him over this; I'll be leaving the box blank next to his name.

EDIT EDIT: This does not mean I'll be voting for Trump!

hedge ,

I can get away with it because I'm fortunate enough to live in a very blue state; if Biden can't win my home state, then he's got bigger problems than the hedgemeister not voting for him. I'm all ears if you have a better suggestion.

hedge ,
@hedge@beehaw.org avatar

Ah, well then there is a definite dilemma there.

hedge ,
@hedge@beehaw.org avatar

I would recommend instead to specifically voice your concerns to Biden or to your congresspeople. It won’t do all that much, but it will do infinitely more than just silently voting and nothing else.

Done and done 👍. The next bit is a bit trickier tho ...

We did this by voting "no preference" in the primaries.👍
