"I'm a strong supporter of the decision of stopping of masks on our subway system, masks in protest, and masks in other areas where it's not health related." - NYC Mayor Adams

But you can get COVID everywhere. EVERYWHERE is health-related. A mask ban doesn't make sense.

@luckytran

Oh, and does that mean that doctors and nurses and others in health care centers, such as doctor's offices and hospitals, will now be routinely wearing masks?!?!?

.

[Of course not. We know this is not about health. Far from it.]

"Occasionally, orcas swim into freshwater rivers. They have been documented 100 mi (160 km) up the Columbia River in the United States. They have also been found in the Fraser River in Canada and the Horikawa River in Japan."

(Well, yea: About 300 miles, "as the crow flies." Much longer by river. With multiple dams, and no fish ladders I can see. You're pretty safe.)

But see image!!! 😈

I did not see the word "effective" mentioned anywhere in that article.

(Which of course means that it never appeared right before the word "cybersecurity." And that makes me think that it's another seemingly important and objective metric that's easy to game.)

OK, that kind of nonsense is not OK.

But what I would do, as a workaround is …

    • un-maximize the window.
    • Resize it to be nearly window size.
    • Move it right until the offensive blank space is off the screen to the right.
    • Expand the window size to the left.

(A real bother for me, as I have my three screens next to each other. So I could only do this to my rightmost screen.)

    Not great. Not good.
Just a stupid workaround and coping mechanism.

    No you can't.

I grew up in hispanic neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area. With close relations to the families nearby.

    No. You cannot tell.

Please try to stop being so ignorant and stupid. Or maybe at least shut up.

Many Brits complain about the UK election system on Mastodon. If you have seen it and wondered why, this is it:

The UK has 650 election areas. In each area the candidate with most votes gets a seat in parliament. The serious flaw with this system is, everyone who votes for smaller parties do not get fewer seats — they get no seats.

For example, if 10 percent of voters vote for a party A, but either party B or party C gets more votes in each district, then party A wins nowhere and gets 0 seats.

    Have they tried https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering ?

We do that a lot in the states.

And it has … serious effects. 🙄

For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.

The article mentions Biden ten times:

    • once in the title
    • eight times describing various ways in which the Biden administration is focusing on security, working to improve computing security, and "deserve immense credit" for their public focus on cybersecurity.
    • and one, at the end, criticising their "relative silence" on Microsoft Recall -- relative to other corporate "flawed strategies and harmful practices" that they did call out.

Why is the owner of X meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago?

The last thing we need is more influence buying by the billionaire class.

Trump may be in dire financial straits, but if there’s some kind of bailout in the works, the American people deserve to know all about it.

Note: "Tony Schwartz (born May 2, 1952)is an American journalist and business book author who is best known for ghostwriting Trump: The Art of the Deal."

So on the comment, "He may have authored 'The Art of the Deal,'" Trump actually did not.

However I would be glad to "credit" trump with that whole "art of the steal" thing.
