This is more of a general answer as fascism seems to be gaining more ground globally. A book published in 1997 "The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy" theorized roughly every 80 years (or about a human life span) we face a crisis related to a critical mass of people losing the knowledge and shared values from the previous generations. Imagine the perspective of a Revolutionary War veteran who fought under General Washington to help forge the United States, who would be understandably upset to hear any mention of a Civil War between states, which didn't start until 82 years later.

We are losing that collective memory now both in the U.S. and abroad; the remaining World War II veterans are in no position to punch these fascists when they see a swastika flown at a rally. Unless we vote in numbers large enough to throw the MAGA movement into the dustbin of history, in the future we can expect younger Trump acolytes to take root in the same vacuum of thought.

From a recent article

”With these words Biden addressed the bitter irony that haunted the commemoration ceremonies. While D-Day occurred eight decades ago, America is now just five months from an election that could bring to power a man and a movement who embody and celebrate the twisted authoritarian values of the enemies we sought to defeat so long ago.
Fascism has not gone away. The tactics of the Nazis to employ racism and demagoguery to divide society and enable their seizure of power and their gutting of democratic institutions currently are the playbook of Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.”

Not of a fan of the dressing, but crumbled on a salad, or as a wing dipping sauce flavor I approve.

It's a matter of political will; the Supreme Court is still deciding on the argument from Trump's defense that assassinating a rival could be considered an official act. In a sane world they would be laughed out of court, but the GOP has stacked the bench and these justices have to now weigh their corrupt intent against how much they care about the legitimacy of the court.

If you don't need realtime parity, I've had no issues with my media server running mismatched drives pooled via MergerFS and then SnapRAID doing scheduled parity.

Which of these are used to make printer ink?

Here's just one example, the government reversed the video of this tornado which clearly spilled out of a collapsing wind machine. Joking, but I would wager someone believes that.

Roughly a quarter of General Aviation traffic (which is primarily piston single-engine aircraft) is flight training, 30% is personal use, and the other 45% is commerce. I'm hoping we can increase adoption of unleaded alternatives since I don't see most of those flights going away.

If we dig through Jonathan's social media posts, guaranteed there is something problematic.

I bought an $800 half stack guitar amplifier in 2009 and rarely play with the volume above 1, let alone play shows with it. But it looks neat.

When a campaign hires staffers like Stephen Miller, and the candidate has said neo-nazis and white supremacists are fine people, that right there is likely the reason.

My anecdotal experience is 'temporarily embarrassed millionaires' lean Libertarian and imagine they'll be young and healthy until they're old and wealthy.

The 14.3 billon in aid to israel was passed by the house by 366-58. Only 37 Democrats and 21 Republicans opposed the bill.

These numbers don't paint the full picture of some Democrats voicing moral objections to human suffering, versus some Republicans who object to the existence of government and will vote against funding for anything.

The role description describes it as a volunteer role, using the word volunteer three times. So unless they have AI posting these without proofreading I'll assume they meant what they wrote.

Not to be confused with Isildur, the oldest son of Elendil and the brother of Anárion.

I'm finally getting around to this one, and so many who called this a Nothing-burger . . . are still doing that despite all evidence. After Trump called Putin smart for invading Ukraine, and to this day not having a single bad word in his mouth for a murderous authoritarian. The clown can muster insults for dead/captured service members, those with disabilities, anyone he deems weaker than him, anyone who crossed him without adequate leverage. This book helps answer the looming question, of what leverage Putin has on Trump to gag the normal flow of verbal diarrhea.

Not to be confused with segued, which is 'to move easily and without interruption from one piece of music, part of a story, subject, or situation to another'.

What do you think about this?

Someone told me that if you keep your gaze fixed and imagine a completely black circle right above someone's head, what you are actually doing is telepathy... so far I haven't researched more about it but I have noticed that some strange things happen when I do that, I see spirals and the vision looks different, could someone...

There were also plans to construct a device to turn the planet's food supply into rocks, which was axed due to budget cuts.

Correct, it's not obvious when first diving in but the main use for RAID is increasing performance and availability by allowing up to a specific number of drive failures. For that to work, ideally in an enterprise you'd have a primary and secondary controller to mitigate that point of failure which is not typical for most homelabs and makes backup even more important.

When I moved into my otherwise shitty apartment, having Google Fiber was the selling point. Paying Comcast a monthly fee for unlimited bandwidth is something I vow never again to do.

How often do you change your mobile phone plan?

I feel like every two years I need to call my carrier and complain if I want a decent deal. They will do things like upgrade my plan on their website to have 10 extra gigabytes of data but won't upgrade me to it until I contact them. There's also all the new member exclusive deals that I feel make it impractical to just sit on...

After using some grandfathered T-Mobile family plan for over a decade I moved us to Tello. Still the same towers, but with our usage it's half the price.

Do they only poll via phone calls? I'm not a dinosaur, so Google Voice screens anybody not in contacts by asking their name. This defeats most robodialers, and having done a couple jobs which included political polls, you only get the call and poll script on your screen once the robodialer has confirmed it didn't reach a voicemail.

You'd get random campaigns based on what numbers were in the robodialer for the timezones it picked. You could be talking to some old guy who was lonely and wanted nothing more than a detailed talk about Ford trucks in between your questions about Ford's latest models, and the next call be questions such as, "if X candidate were to take a stronger position against giving free lunch to school kids, would the chance you vote for them increase, decrease, or stay the same?"

I did not last long at either job as it is soulkilling work
