aaAAA HOT ☀️
To stay cool during hot weather, I wear a tankini top, which efficiently wicks the sweat off. But most of them have tight elastic band under the shelfBra, so I modify them to make them wearable. 👌😁
Here’s one I modded a few years ago. I used old legging fabric.
👉 This is my Celebrating Flowers quilt. 😍
It’s includes silk ribbon embroidered flowers & was the featured series, on my website in 2014!
You can be see it in the video I posted about, earlier today. 🤔
📍Did you know?
This pattern is available monthly, through my newsletter, throughout 2024. 💌
Today I have spent most of the day's active hours sewing a bunch of lingerie. I had already done half the work before, have sewn a bunch before, and was doing it in batches...
And it STILL took so very long to make just six pants and two bras. Lingerie making is fucking witchcraft and an almost entirely new skill set from other sewing, very fiddly and precise!
Fucking pay garment workers more, they deserve it!
The finished Cat Quilt! Mom likes it and was also very taken with the little tote I made her. "I'm going to take it to yoga, they're going to think it's so cute."
Her comment after laying it out to take these photos was that it's huge! Yes, mum, that's why it took me about three times as long as I thought it would. 😆
But it's done and where it belongs now!
Ooh hoo! I made a phone pocket for these cropped leggings I like, using the cut bottom of another leggings! 🤗 I might add another one on the right leg. 🥰💓 The pocket is a must!
Mary Morton just landed on my list of sewing heroes —
“The 67-year-old fixes, mends and shows people how to breathe new life into their tired garments – and has built an army of volunteer street stitchers who work across the city …
She sits outside with a banner over the back of her chair that says "stitch it, don't ditch it" while sewing - and she waits for people to ask her what she is doing.”
I finished #sewing another pair of #jeans today and I’m very proud of them! I’m on a seam finishing kick and I finished everything: inseams, side seams, crotch seam, pocket bags, it’s all flat felled or Frenched. The purple zipper and rainbow pockets are like a fun secret. The buttonhole is great, I finally feel like I’m getting competent with the embroidery needle again. Threads Theory Jutland pattern.
Having reorganized my spare bedroom, I was able to open the closet doors. Idunna immediately took the opportunity to explore. Meanwhile Philomena is helping me sew. 🧵 #catstodon#sewing
Today I was one of many who helped save two trucks of "we don't know how many" coming from a warehouse full of textiles that was going to be dumped. It was mostly lingerie fabric and trims, all perfectly good and usable. This is why I volunteer at the Lair! So much good shit is sent to landfill and we see .000000001% of it! If that!
I'm not mad at the people clearing the warehouse - it's a sad backstory and it must happen all the time. This is why community is vital, we need to link up and distribute resources that would otherwise be sent to the tip. With these resources we can share low cost and free items that help people make stuff they don't have to buy. We can take down capitalism... Well... A little bit of it.
The great 2024 #decluttering has turned up this. It’s a washable colouring in map thingy. I’m very tempted to turn it into a small quilt. Maybe with flags around the outside as a border? Could maybe colour in the critters with embroidery? 🤔
