Grizzly cubs are born tiny- only 1 pound! They grow fast, reaching about 200 pounds by the end of their 1st year. It takes them about 8 years to reach their full size, which can be as much as 700 pounds

Today is the last day of !
I made the theme “plants” because I didn’t want to spend the whole time focusing on flowers, & then I spent the whole time focusing on flowers! I suppose at some point I’ll have to do a “non-flowering plant” theme? For now, though, I need a break from flora.

What’s the opposite of ? Is it ?

Wondering why the leaves on these Bear’s Breeches look familiar?

The little white flowers are the actual Bougainvillea flower heads & the lovely fuchsia bits are bracts- slightly modified leaves that grow above all the other leaves, but below the petals- they don’t count as petals! Botany is strange. 💚 🌱

What flowers have the most petals? Buttercups, they have 12!
Most would say sunflowers, but each sunflower is a pseudanthium- many small flowers growing so it looks like one big flower! (I know this isn’t a sunflower OR a buttercup, but I just learned that & so I had to share!)

Flower petals are modified leaves. Petals’ bright colors attract pollinators that are active during the day. Flowers with nocturnal pollinators are usually white, so they reflect moonlight and are easier to see in the dark.

I first drew the Wandering Art Shop last year for a prompt
This year I decided to remake it. Making the shop look so janky is too much fun!

I still daydream about being a shopkeeper that flies all over the world trading in secrets & strange alchemical ingredients…

Watercolor of a flying ship that houses a traveling shop. Parked on four skinny legs, part of the ships' wall folds out to form a counter & a sign that says "I assure you we're open!" Potions & oddities line the walls inside. The background is a landscape made out of a pride flag's colors.
