Oh hey, the original Alien is coming back to Theaters for a run. Never seen it (I'll fix that this time around) but good gaming material to watch here.

How would you convert the classic sci-fi/fantasy movie Krull into a playable RPG? The topic comes up and I have a few thoughts.

Watching "Aniara" a Scandinavian scifi film about a space passenger vessel the size of a mall that goes off course on a 3 week cruise.

By year 4 there are cults.

Seems about right.

Hello out there!

Jumped to another instance.
I have led an independently bohemian lifestyle since leaving the farm, my childhood home.
A dear friend suggests that this urge to roam traces back to my ancestors, who were nomadic.
I've traveled across the USA, parts of Canada, and Baja Mexico before finally settling in the Rocky Mountains.

‘One day you’ll barter bread for our DVDs’. J Oliver Conroy's insightful article about the counterrevolution - the comeback of physical films, many good reasons why people go back to physical discs and why people regret decluttering their DVDs. 246 comments already, most agree.

i am cultivating an exquisite new hobby

after fruitfully spending the last 25 years decrying pan and scan, and vilifying those who bought and showed "full screen" movies in their homes, i am now collecting and watching them on my 11-inch 4:3 sony trinitron TV, exactly as the director intended 🍿

I've been bingeing the old Planet of the Apes this weekend. Fun classic . There was a noticeable drop in the writing quality after the first movie, and the third has some goofy humor for some odd reason (Star Trek IV, anyone?), but I'm liking them.

About to start the last movie. It has the worst star rating on IMDb. Here goes.

Introducing a new series!

Sci-fi and horror may not necessarily be something you’d associate with mindfulness and mental wellness, but as anyone who craves a moment to forget their tired ways of thinking and feeling, these genres offer a haven of escapism.

In that spirit, I’m starting a new series - Beyond Shadows: Finding resilience in Sci-fi and Horror.

To the gaming/nerd community:

What is the best novelization of a game or movie series that you enjoy?

Prefer movies to be typically "nerdy" movies like star wars and such. Will also accept TV series novelizations as well like Doctor Who (if that's a thing)

Recommend me your books that flesh out your fandom from other media types.

  1. The "live-action" phrasing is hilarious.

  2. If they ruin this with overreliance on CGI from asininely overworked animators, i'm leading the mob.
