I've still got my original 400+ DVD collection, but it's housed in two gigantic CD wallets. I had to lose the cases to makes space as we moved to a smaller house.
@chris@UKFilmNerd I do kinda regret getting rid of the bulk of my DVD collection, but tbh they were just films I'd watched once and then never touched again. The ones I kept that I rediscovered recently I'm very glad I did keep hold of, and I'm liking going hunting for cheap discs again
@chris@UKFilmNerd all very true. I do grab whatever movies I find at thrift that I like on DVD and Blu-ray, I'm often surprised at what I find and they're pretty cheap. The last remaining vestige. The collection has definitely grown in the last couple years.
@chris@UKFilmNerd Working at a small video (and games) rental store, where I'd know all the regulars and advise other customers, that might be my dream job.
But even if physical media were more common, I'd only rent and return them, so I couldn't contribute to preservation
