I think (but don't know for sure) Paramount basically gutted the Shudder human curation crew and spun up Ye Olde Algorithm for programming choice. I really love the idea behind what Shudder is supposed to be, but I've never felt the need to retain a subscription for more than a month at a time, a couple of times a year.
Good ones I see in this list:
Hunter Hunter
Valhalla Rising (although not "horror")
Loop Track
I could need a bit of help regarding an old US movie which I cannot remember the title of.
It is a about a couple, probably set in the 1950s and black and white, which goes on their honeymoon in the US with a caravan. Everything goes wrong and I remember that at one point, the caravan comes off from the car and roles down a hill, I think with the bride still inside.
@HistoPol@noondlyt@Tim_McTuffty@mina I didn't grow up here and I have limited knowledge of pop culture. Almost all of it from Simpsons and South Park references. So, have fun
if you enjoyed 'Shōgun' the 1st 3 'Shinobi' films may be of interest as they effectively function as a prequel + lots of ninja trickery: walking on water, flaming shuriken, climbing claws, sleeping gases, poisons, flash bombs, tatami mats...
my #film#review of the new Radiance #Bluray box set of 'Shinobi parts 1, 2, & 3' (1962–63) is published in Frame Rated:
@jake4480@horror I believe the correct phrase is 'edited for time and content'. ;>) Love this film. Did end up seeing it in the theater a few weeks back, and I watched UHD version a few days ago. There really isn't much to edit in this film, and if you do, you end up losing some iconic, pivotal moments. It's a stone cold classic!
Experimental, a concept focused on the aesthetic and sound experience, terrifying and uncomfortable. It's the kind of immersive movie, with symbolism and interpretations, where nothing is shown in a normal way, the grainy images, the unusual angles provoke scares and tension. The sound of the film is spectacular and makes the experience of watching the movie unique, it feels like a nightmare. A very original masterpiece.
Thanks for dropping by my small corner of the Fediverse.
I'm a proud Aussie living near the beautiful Canadian Rockies with my family.
I like listening to audiobooks and #podcasts, watching #movies, dabbling in iPhoneography, tinkering with #Linux or #SecBSD, going on family adventures, and supporting my favourite football ⚽ teams in Australia, Scotland, Germany, and North America.
I’ve just finished reading Space Odyssey, a fascinating account of how Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey, was created. If you have any interest in that great film, or in science fiction movies, or the history of movies in general, or even just in well-written absorbing nonfiction, then I highly recommend this book.
