Yet another #recall

#Tesla is recalling its futuristic new Cybertruck pickup for the fourth time in the U.S. to fix problems with trim pieces that can come loose and front windshield wipers that can fail.

The new recalls, announced in documents posted Tuesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each affect more than 11,000 trucks.”

I’ve just finished reading Space Odyssey, a fascinating account of how Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey, was created. If you have any interest in that great film, or in science fiction movies, or the history of movies in general, or even just in well-written absorbing nonfiction, then I highly recommend this book.

@breadandcircuses Great book and movie

But I have to admit I prefer 2010, both the book and the movie

I just saw my first live-and-in-person CyberTruck, and it did not disappoint.

It was the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever witnessed.

It annoys me how people talk about using social media like it's a vice. And a female-coded one at that.

"Spend less time on social media" is trotted out a virtuous in the same way that "not eating a pint of ice cream" is.

Imagine if in the early days of movable type, there were people going around saying "don't read pamphlets, they are full of misinformation"

Social media is the primary way news is disseminated. It is superseding newspapers and TV as the primary vector of mass media. 1/

Sure but.... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37830765-ten-arguments-for-deleting-your-social-media-accounts-right-now is still an excellent book and the points it makes are very cogent.

I'd love to hear you and Jaron discuss the issue.

Cheers eh 🥂

There have been 50 mass shootings in America this year so far.

This year is 46 days old.

Climate protest is not a crime.

Or at least it SHOULDN'T be a crime. But in our capitalist, neoliberal world, it is.

Greta Thunberg and four other climate activists were put on trial today after being arrested at a protest outside a gathering of fossil fuel bosses in London last October.

Speaking about this, Thunberg said...

"Even though we are the ones standing here, climate and human rights activists all over the world are being prosecuted, sometimes convicted, and given legal penalties for acting in line with science."

"We must remember who the real enemy is. What are we defending? Who are our laws meant to protect?”
