When you sit in a hide to watch birds, and the birds come and watch you...
Robins, along with Great Tits and Grey Squirrels, regularly join the human visitors inside the hides at Forest Farm, Cardiff, looking for the free food which said visitors provide regularly. Outside, other species not quite bold enough to join the humans in their box, make the most of what's on offer too.
Remembering Dad (who died a year and a half ago) on #FathersDay. It was Dad who encouraged my early interest in #nature and then, when I was in my teens, my passion for #WildlifePhotography.
Here he is in the #garden he loved so much, with some of the #wildlife he captured on camera there. Thanks Dad, and rest well.
Dad's #garden has provided me with many opportunities for #WildlifePhotography over the years, even when he was no longer able to tend to it. Pics here from 2016 to earlier this year, clockwise from top left: Common #Frog, #Robin, Seven-spot #Ladybird, and Brimstone #Butterfly.
"Why are you hiding under a bush?" the Robin asked, looking at me askance. The rain continued to slant down everywhere around us. I'd found a dry spot under an Acer, and crouched and bustled my way into that to wait out the passing shower.
15 minutes later and it was still raining. The Robin had gone, more rain was percolating through the leaves of the Acer and I was starting to get quite wet. Time to abandon the cover and head for the coffee shop.
Baby Robins, almost ready to take off from our porch 🥳
Sorry, just one picture, and I won’t bother you anymore.
Last year, we had Mourning doves, this year, Robins 😊
It was finally dry enough to get some proper gardening done this afternoon. Shattered now, but did have some pleasing feathered visitors while I was out there.
Got out to our first RPSB reserve today (West Canvey Marshes), and saw lots of lovely things (Avocets!, Oystercatchers, Kestrel, Sandpipers, Egrets, Lapwing & more).
Didn't get any pics, though, so here's a nice Robin posing on a tree stump from a few days ago.
