From last November.
Puffball zombie apocalypse look in the first image. Because that is what you get if you pack your 14mm wide angle lens instead of your 90mm macro.

🌱☘️🌿 Adventures of a baby snail called Rainbow🌈 as “Robinson Crusoe” - stranded on an island, surrounded by water.

Added some calcium carbonate (similar to chicken egg shell) for nutrition.

150 frames captured at 30-second intervals. Played back at 15 frames per second! 🐌🐚

I just finished reading Entangled Life, and it was a trip.

Fungi are weird, y'all. They're very queer, actually. They defy classification, break the "rules" of how life works, form symbiotic bonds with just about any form of life, and really challenge what it means to be an "individual."

    Some of my favorite takeaways:

Some fungi have thousands of "mating types" (sorta like "sexes" in mammals).

"Lichen" is probably better thought of as a verb than as a collection of species.

Some mycologists argue we shouldn't classify fungus into species at all.

Well known for its red and white-spotted cap, fly agaric has a mutually-beneficial relationship with birch trees in the forest. In Scotland, the fly agaric occurs throughout the mainland, the larger islands such as Skye, Mull and Rum, and has also been recorded in the Outer Hebrides.
