Value study of this familiar view. Applied the following strategy:

  1. Loose pencil drawing to make sure everything fits into the frame
  2. Finding and painting a big middle value shape (using a big round squirrel brush and a watery paint mix)
  3. Adding darker shapes to make some objects pop (using a medium sable brush and a thicker less watery mix)

My sketchbook lies open on a yellow fabric. We see the left page. A sketch of a woman sitting in her blankets, she has just woken up. The blankets are drawn in a multicoloured pencil, they are crumpled and curled up around her. She is drawn in ink. She sits up, her arms resting on her knees. Her eye is drawn in the same coloured pencil. The pupil is absent.

    Tres viñetas: una con la figura de Sant Jordi luchando contra el dragón que hay sobre la puerta de Can Trinxeria, otra con una calle al fondo de la cual se ve una casa fortificada con su garita de vigilancia sobre la calle y la ultima de Can Figueras un edificio modernista en el Paseo Vilaret.     Some from last month! ( and ) are simply amazing! Had some fun with some small studies of a , , and and flowers.

    Here, I used my now favorite fude nib in my Jinhao 159 fountain pen.

    Highland cattle looking backwards is a detailed pencil drawing showing a shaggy highland cattle with distinctive horns and the typical long-haired fringe above the eyes. Its shaggy coat and distinctive hairstyle give it a characteristic appearance, suggesting the animal's robustness and adaptability to harsh climates. The animal is standing in a meadow and can be seen from behind. It has its head turned backwards and is looking back towards the viewer. The drawing is part of my series consisting of four different pencil drawings of highland cattle. The pictures are beautiful individually, but also complement each other perfectly on the wall to form a complete work of art. All four pictures can be found in my Collection of Animal paintings.
