Well known for its red and white-spotted cap, fly agaric has a mutually-beneficial relationship with birch trees in the forest. In Scotland, the fly agaric occurs throughout the mainland, the larger islands such as Skye, Mull and Rum, and has also been recorded in the Outer Hebrides.
