News: Biobot is sunsetting its COVID-19 wastewater public data visualization platform.

While Biobot will continue to publish their contextualized weekly respiratory risk reports, this represents another decrease in data transparency, and a step in the wrong direction.

@luckytran I live in a state that covers a HUGE geographic area and there’s only one site reporting to the CDC. No idea where it is located. 😬

They call them weekly reports, but they also say
“These reports will be published throughout the respiratory virus season and during moments of need (such as in the case of H5N1)…. Periodic updates will also be shared outside of respiratory virus season as and when they become relevant to the public.”

That sucks to hear, that was the website I was using. My county was even still updating as of last week.

At least People's CDC still exists...right?

Dammit...that has been my go-to for updates on COVID info.
Thanks for the CDC page...I'm bookmarking it now!

CDC COVID wastewater data remains publicly accessible: https://www.cdc.gov/nwss/rv/COVID19-nationaltrend.html

Various local COVID wastewater data also remains accessible.

But it’s sad to see Biobot sunsetting their publicly accessible charts, which have been available since the start of the pandemic.

I'd trust Biobot to be more transparent about it though because there's not much non-transparency going on anywhere here in Murrikah
