This is the most Hamas thing to do. Use money to build something reasonable and useful? Nah.
Use money to build rockets and shoot it at every single possible occasion even if whole Gaza is now destroyed? Of course!

Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden ( www.theguardian.com )

Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession, and the majority blame the Biden administration, according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian. The survey found persistent pessimism about the economy as election day draws closer....

belonged to Britain, not Palestine.

As a right winger, I support this approach. Investing into people for a certain amount of time (so they can start working, thus paying taxes and contributing to the economy) will eventually pay off.

Socialist economics that just gives out things delivers bankruptcy

I have it in my country, too. And many right wing countries have it, too. See, the fact I am a right winger does not mean I am against all social stuff. Just firstly you need to have an economy to pay for it.

The main issue I see is the fact your brother is not employed. I don’t think it is your fault but that would ease up your situation a lot.

I know, bur from historical data we know building socialistic economy is less advantageous.

Politics is about compromise. You always have to choose for the lesser evil one. If you don't vote Biden, you are practically supporting Trump. If you dislike how Biden treats palestine, don’t even try to imagine what Trump would do.

Just to add: the reason why man israelis speak russian is the fact that they come from post communist countries. Those people couldn't leave during that era.

Netanyahu aims to trap west into war across Middle East, warns Iranian diplomat ( www.theguardian.com )

Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to trap the west into a total war across the Middle East that would have incalculable consequences for the region and the world, Iran’s top diplomat in the UK has claimed, in his first interview since Tehran launched an unprecedented missile and drone attack against Israel at the weekend....

Both Iran and Israel are doing their shit here.

@theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

Yes because iran is totally innocent and hideous western nations bully it, so it needs to defend itself!

theotherverion ,
@theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

That was a very poor decision. Still it does not give right to indefinitely attack.

theotherverion ,
@theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

They should not use it as a right indefinitely. Saying that Iran can now attack everyone around because sth happened 50 years ago doesn't make much sense.

theotherverion ,
@theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

This thing did not start with Israel's attack on Iran.

Iran launches drone attack against Israel as Biden rushes to White House ( www.theguardian.com )

Iran said it launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles towards Israel on Saturday in a major attack following days of acute tension building up in the region and warnings from the US and elsewhere about a wider conflict erupting....

You cannot say it started with the embassy. Fucks like Hezbollah and Hamas were shooting rockets into israel for a looong time and israel has been doing the same.

    It’s the best choice.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    If trump becomes elected, people like you will be exactly the reason.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    That’s the same logic as not voting because neighbor's car is green and not red.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    The thing is one is still objectively better than the another. If you choose not to support the lesser evil, you are basically supporting the worst case scenario.

    Edit: You need to accept the fact that consensus is oftentimes not possible and have to deal with a compromise.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    Yes, my statement was not 100% accurate. It should have said that people who decide not to vote will be exactly one of reasons if trump wins.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    And people who decide not to vote will be complicit of trump getting the power.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    You need to understand that in elections you are choosing the lesser evil, not ideal.

    Biden cannot really. Either Netanyahu or Hamas.

    Israel moves to shut down Al Jazeera after new law allows for ‘security threat’ bans on international media | CNN ( edition.cnn.com )

    Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to shut down news network Al Jazeera following the passage Monday of a sweeping law allowing the government to ban foreign networks perceived as posing a threat to national security....

    Unfortunately democracy index was released few weeks ago, but would like to see how this change would affect it.

    Despite the fact AlJazeera spreads bullshit most of the time, a law like this can be easily used against other journals, as well.

    I believe that bloodbath would start if he GETA elected.

    Voters don’t have a clue about how much worse Trump’s second term would be ( www.inquirer.com )

    This BTW is how you involve in the story the reality of what the voters think, which is an important portion of election coverage, while still upholding your basic journalistic responsibility to communicate to people what's actually going on.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    To american people from europe: pls vote biden. Even if he was completely senile, even dead, it would still be far better than Trump.

    theotherverion ,

    If this is your main problem, then be prepared for Trump...

    Now I bet if we compare the numbers to, let’s say Muslim population, the numbers against Israel will be far lower.

    What I am saying is that for Jewish people, the probability of supporting Israel is higher compared to non-Jewish ones.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    Of course.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    Of course not everyone but proportionally more compared to other groups.

    Let me give you an example:
    You take 500 Jews, 500 Muslims, 500 Christians, 500 Atheists, I believe that the biggest group of Israel supporters will be in the "Jews" category.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    I would say that he is probably afraid of losing the support within the Jewish community in USA.
    But also it is strategically very important for USA to have Israel in the middle east because otherwise they would have no influence on the region whatsoever.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    The reason why Israel and US have such a strong relationship is very logical. Both US and Israel are democratic countries, both have one of the most advanced technology industries in the world. For american companies, Israel is their entry way to the Middle East. In addition, both have a common enemy - Iran and Israel is a partner with quite a strong military, so there exists a counter force to Iran.

    Regarding Jordan, their values are not so close to the ones of US. Also, not that long time ago they were in a war and in the last days, they seem to get closer and closer to Iran.

    So whilst Israel's actions may not be ideal, stopping funding it would end in a catastrophe. Israel would be weaker and groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah could take it (at least it would be far easier than with US's money). Then there would be nothing to complicate Iran's goal of becoming a nuclear superpower and I don’t think I have to continue why that would be terrible.

    theotherverion ,
    @theotherverion@lemmynsfw.com avatar

    US needs Israel more than you think. US alone would have huge problems dealing with Iran due to the proximity, so it is usually Mossad that leads proxy war with Iran. Furthermore, had Israel not been present, there would be no one in the middle east sharing intel with USA and no one else will organise operations such as these: https://iranprimer.usip.org/blog/2022/aug/11/timeline-israeli-attacks-iran

    I also don't believe that stopping the support of Israel would help stabilize the situation. If US wanted to have normal relations with Iran, they would have to stop supporting Ukraine against Russia, Taiwan against China, etc (Russia and China are Iran's close allies). These 2 countries are simply on the
    opposite side of the spectrum and weakening Israel would only give bigger space to Iran.

    Also the claims of apartheid are not necessarily correct because Palestinians are not Israeli citizens. They have their own administration.

    So I think it’s very improbable for the West (and US especially) to stop supporting Israel even if it commits war crimes. Deciding between tolerating Israel's war crimes and Middle east full of terrorist groups with nuclear weapons is quite an easy choice for most western countries.
