How people manage to play and chat online with random people?

This may sound dumb for some of you but I just can't play online, or at least I can't play anything with chat or a very social aspect. That's why I only play tekken on my xbox since that doesn't require socialisation but I have so many games and I feel half of them are worthless now that I finished the campaigns because I don't...

Change that.

You can get a Steam Deck refurbished for very very little money.

Edit: keep an eye out on this page for them to come back into stock, or check out Valve's partner store, GameStop.

Im sorry but how else do you drive 2 hours into the middle of the woods where there are no other people around so you can get away from godawful society for a while if not owning your own car? Im certainly not going to pay someone else to drive me out to a favorite low/no traffic spot just to show everyone where it is and then ruin it.

Desktop first, steam deck very close second.

Laptops can stay very far away from my household

semperverus ,
@semperverus@lemmy.world avatar

Same. Every gaming laptop i have ever had the displeasure of using has been absolute garbage.

The steam deck on the other hand? Pure kino.

semperverus ,
@semperverus@lemmy.world avatar

I just use the KDE defaults and they work fine

semperverus ,
@semperverus@lemmy.world avatar

Regardless of if their gpus are weaker, they are absolutely causing the focus on gaming laptops to wane, and wane hard. Why build a high end $2000 laptop that sells 10,000 units when you could make a $600-1000 handheld that sells 250,000 to 3,000,000 units?

Earth falling out of orbit and careening towards the sun.

Looking up at the sky, I see a void open in the center, going from blue to black, then eventually to blinding orange into white before everyone collectively melts and then incinerates in the extreme heat.

Worst off, its a slow descent, so we have time to contemplate it as it happens.

I think i'm missing the context about the circumcision thing. Where did you get that from exactly?

It sounded like he meant russians. Ukrain has absolutely demolished a huge population from Russia.

Can I refuse MS Authenticator?

So my company decided to migrate office suite and email etc to Microsoft365. Whatever. But for 2FA login they decided to disable the option to choose "any authenticator" and force Microsoft Authenticator on the (private) phones of both employees and volunteers. Is there any valid reason why they would do this, like it's...

Im using aegis as totp with microsoft at my company right now

We are all the same entity, just different instances, existing inside of the greater consciousness that is the universe. We have performed every great and evil act to ourselves, as we are all the same entity.

Thats literally how it started, yes.

Then scientists realized that their math hack might actually hold some weight.

@semperverus@lemmy.world avatar

I dont mean that we are the same as in each human is exactly like one another.

I mean we are the same as in there is no "we", "we" is an illusion. There is only one of us, experiencing existence through the lens of each living creature simultaneously. "We" are the universe itself. The humans, the animals, all of the matter and energy are just perturbations in our collective fabric. The current body in which you are experiencing life is just one of many appendiges.

You are yourself and you are your parents. You are the primordial cavemen. You are hitler, and you are ghandi.

All of these experiences of each life feed back into the greater consciousness.

Mirror all data on NAS A to NAS B

I'm duplicating my server hardware and moving the second set off site. I want to keep the data live since the whole system will be load balanced with my on site system. I've contemplated tools like syncthing to make a 1 to 1 copy of the data to NAS B but i know there has to be a better way. What have you used successfully?

I explicitly go balls to the wall to protect my tax documents and cat memes, for a couple of reasons:

  1. I am very passionate about the concept of "You shouldn't have to have anything to hide to deserve the right to privacy."

  2. People should't "poop with the door open" (to use a metaphor), so I keep my door shut.

  3. Opinions and ideals can get people hurt if made public, and I want to protect both mine and those of the people i talk to (even if i don't agree with them).

  4. If everyone took their security and privacy this seriously, nobody would have to worry about some nonce assuming they were committing crimes just because they were protecting their right to privacy. I'm being just one more drop in the bucket.

I really hope we get dumb electric cars. I don't think we need more spy cameras on wheels going everywhere.

Then you need NextCloud, not Syncthing.

Run NextCloud on your NAS and you'll be set.

semperverus ,

Nextcloud works just fine on my system, must be something with the way you set stuff up.

It's not us seeing Threads that's the problem, it's Threads seeing us (and thereby trapping all of us in their sticky web we tried to escape, what with their shadow profiles and whatnot).

    May I introduce you to the Milk-V Pioneer 64-core RISC-V desktop workstation?

    Anyone get that feeling of pure euphoria/ecstasy after eating following a period of malnourishment? What is that??

    I recently went for a period of about 1.5 months in which I was eating very little due to some psych trauma work I was doing and a lifelong history of ARFID. I eventually started to get symptoms of malnourment and decided to get it under control. On the first day, I had a smoothie, a multivitamin, and an iron supplement....

    I get this feeling after a nice poop sometimes.

    I think its just your body telling you that you did good/it now has the supplies it needs to do its job. It probably has to do with relative reactance to stimulus. If you go a long time without any of a specific stimulus, you're more likely to be highly sensitive to it. In this case it was your whole body becuase you gave it what it needs.

    Latest Adblock update causes massive YouTube performance hit ( www.bleepingcomputer.com )

    Update 1/16 - Adblock has informed BleepingComputer that its engineers fixed the problem and released ABP 3.22.1 and AB 5.17.1 on the Opera and Edge extension stores. The same versions are currently in review on the Mozilla and Chrome add-on stores, and should be made available soon.
