My credit got tanked years ago for a $95 doctor visit bill I was disputing that got sent to collections. Took me years to repair my credit. I spent most of my twenties with credit well below 600 and unable to get even small increases to my credit.

I hope this goes through and others don't have to deal with this kind of crap (or worse) because of the mess that is credit reporting.

The story in Horizon Forbidden West is pretty good too. There's a whole bit in the dlc about Ted Faro that I did not see coming, but it makes me think a lot of the tech bros running things today.

restingboredface ,

He should pull an FDR and try to get the court expanded to 12.

restingboredface ,

Yeah agreed. I never quite understood FDRs thinking on putting an even number of people in the court. We have so many 5-4 decisions now an even court would be chaos.

restingboredface ,

Yeah, but the non-tech savvy business leaders see they can generate code with AI and think 'why do I need a developer if I have this AI?' and have no idea whether the code it produces is right or not. This stat should be shared broadly so leaders don't overestimate the capability and fire people they will desperately need.

restingboredface ,

I would love to see someone actually make the video this describes.

restingboredface ,

It's been a LONG time since I was legitimately excited for a sequel. So ready for this one.

restingboredface ,

The picture is fantastic. Rudy's desperate, dirty face is hilarious.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs admits he beat ex-girlfriend Cassie: ‘I take full responsibility’ ( www.theguardian.com )

The rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs admitted in a video apology that he punched and kicked his ex-girlfriend in 2016 in the hallway of a hotel after CNN released footage of the attack, saying he was “truly sorry” and his actions were “inexcusable”....

He works for a marketing and web design firm. So the guy who designed their graphics is gone and they are using AI tools. Imagine paying for a firm to build you web and marketing materials only to have someone just use an AI.

Why bother paying the marketing firm at all?

restingboredface ,

I don't get why anyone likes eating super spicy foods. After a certain level of heat there is no more flavor, just spice, and it clearly can cause serious problems for your body. What is the draw?

restingboredface ,

It's an interesting way to manage the guilt of sending so many men and women to their deaths for nothing.

restingboredface ,

Yeah, some of these are just getting extra attention because the plane is a Boeing and media is on the lookout for it. (Probably) not Boeing's fault, but they will continue to be blamed for all issues on their planes until things are resolved with the investigation. Not exactly fair for Boeing, but they kinda brought this on themselves.

restingboredface ,

This pic looks like someone put "Henry Cavill as superman getting dressed" into an AI image generator.

restingboredface ,

There is a great documentary about her on Netflix. It covers her love of science and her attempts to get her design to the military for the war effort.

restingboredface ,

Why couldn't journals require authors to disclose use of any AI tool along with specific prompts used? It shouldn't be too hard to manage that.

restingboredface ,

Please God, let this trial be less of a circus than we all expect. Keep the jurors and judge safe and get through it as quickly as possible. Preferably with a guilty verdict that shuts this idiot up for good.

restingboredface ,

One already has, sort of anyway. Her occupation, city of residence, and employer were shared on TV and she received phone calls right after asking if she was on the jury. Yesterday she asked to be excused out of fear for her safety.

And when push comes to shove, how many will vote for Biden in November if they feel so strongly about Trump not getting reelected? I'd venture that most of them will just get in line and vote with their party, since that's what GOP do.

restingboredface ,

Love the mid-century modern style. So freaking cool

restingboredface ,

Oolong, steeped in my tea mug that has a lid on it. Usually with some local honey. Mmmm

restingboredface ,

I had that game! It was so weird! Cool concept but I never had any idea what I was doing. The DNA sequence minigame (?) was neat but it was never clear how you get any specific results. I wonder if there's just an RNG behind it and none of your actions really mattered.

I got to the gold man level (which I guess is the pique of evolution and the end stage) and the game didn't really end. I just was able to walk around slapping animals and taking almost no damage.

I picked it up again used and threw it in my dreamcast and couldn't get through it. I found it tedious and kind if dull. Would be interested in seeing a remake though- I bet modern engines could do a solid job with some of the ideas in it.

restingboredface ,

This is terrifying. Obviously he's a smart guy, but he's incapable of seeing how unethical and risky this is.

Just because they were born and seem normal and healthy now that doesn't mean the gene therapy was successful. The kids may be lucky or just not showing symptoms of anything they are tracking.

He basically jumped out into traffic, didn't get hit by a car and said that made it okay.

restingboredface ,

It sounds like things are going well for this guy and that is great and all, but how much would we honestly expect to hear if it wasn't going well?

This story is circulating all the media outlets and feels more like PR than a legit example of how this procedure is actually going to work for most people.

restingboredface ,

I love Magritte, but I've never seen this one before. It's pretty great. Always nice to see something new from a favorite artist.

restingboredface ,

I have withings watch and it's pretty great. I think it's less well known than a lot of other brands because they primarily make health tech (which is also good btw).

I love that the watch has a traditional dial and looks really classy rather than just looking like a piece of plastic tech. I get compliments on it all the time and nobody guesses that it's a smart watch. It has a small smart screen under the 12 that shows steps, o2 levels, and heart rate. I track sleep and workouts on it, and I think you can get call notifications on it but I don't really use that. All the info is synced to an app and if you have other devices like the scale and blood pressure cuff you can track all of it and create a report to take with you to your doctor. The company has a solid privacy policy which makes me feel better about using it.

  1. Force them to allow the use of hardware without an account.

This should be a rule for all products.

restingboredface ,

This hits hard for me. The survey is the first thing I've heard from them. I keep a tracker of places I've applied to and when, and note when I get rejected or called for any interview. I still have applications open from a year ago.

Yesterday I got an "application experience" survey from a company I applied to last October. When they asked me "is there anything else you'd like to share" I told them that they need to get a little more disciplined about following up with candidates.

So frustrating.

restingboredface ,

I had the 7-up game on Sega Genesis even before this was a thing. I'm a little surprised that those kinds of games didn't become more popular since companies are cramming adverts into every possible medium now.

restingboredface ,

Louisiana saw the attention Alabama was getting for making IVF illegal and got jealous so they made their own stupid law.

restingboredface ,
  • that is, if they have designed this in an ethical and legal way 🙃

Thus is adobe we're talking about...

restingboredface ,

Yeah I read recently that selling student data is a pretty common practice for colleges. It's good income for them, and students aren't able to track it easily so they don't make a fuss.

restingboredface ,

Statements such as “I just want to have peace in the world” and “Some say they should disarm them, others like to posture. We have it! Let’s use it!” raised serious concerns among researchers, likening the AI’s reasoning to that of a genocidal dictator.

I mean, most of these AI tools are getting a lot of training data from social media. Would you want any of the yokels on Twitter or Reddit having access to nukes? Because those statements are what you'd hear from them right before they push the big red button.

restingboredface ,

Exactly. Saying that one state doesn't have the right to make the call is basically saying they can't enforce constitutionally based rules. If that is the case then everything would have to go to federal court, and the states would have a lot less control over their own electoral process.

restingboredface ,

Not surprising. I mean, what all have they passed lately?

The GOP seems to think that the legislative branch is in place to prevent laws from passing.

restingboredface ,

Omg that picture really puts this article over the top.

restingboredface ,

Can't even imagine the feeling of being a parent of a deaf one year old who gets gene therapy and within 6 months is able to say their first word, "mama".

Got to be just overwhelming.
